This is why we use @uber instead

Iβm a cabdriver in London and 3 times this morning passengers have asked me to take them to Selfridges and John Lewis. I say I canβt get them there, they say is it a demo, I say no itβs closed permanently. They decide to go Harrods instead. Business killer.

A cab driver has been posting about telling passengers that he canβt take them to @JohnLewisRetail or @Selfridges because Oxford Street is closed. Total BS. If you encounter this nonsense just use @Uber - they use accurate satnav - or preferably a tube or a bus.

yes, the times Iβve been to Oxford street with any of my children (two of which currently toddlers) I have always thought to myself: thank god for this huge main road next to this overcrowded pavement!

Weβve done it! Oxford St has been pedestrianised.

Be extra careful if youβre cycling in London today. The pedestrianisation of Oxford Street has led to localised flooding due to the tears of black cab drivers.
Brexiters are not just rude but also thin skinned. They have to be to bolster their denial of reality.

This pedestrian was wearing high-visibility clothing, but that did not stop these βprofessionalβ drivers misbehaving.
Not worthy of police reports, but I have always found the taxi licensing authorities receptive.

John Stewart drops all pretence of being anything other than a hater of cycling. Claims of safety concerns were always an obvious nonsense trying to obscure his true motives.

These mini motorcades are dangerous, expensive and unnecessary. Theyβre about status and the fragile egos of people who donβt want to earn respect but demand it.

If only someone had warned the Conservatives that this might happen! And the weird thing is that theyβre now doubling down by:
- telling us nothing can be done about it
AND
- giving us Brexit 2.0 by leaving the ECHR
The Tories say theyβve changed, but theyβve learned nothing.

The reason we canβt go through the faster border route is because of the Brexit that is as negotiated when you were an MP - not me.
And as a kicker, you were a minister too.
Maybe you should have done a better job.

In 1983, the @LabourParty led by Michael Foot suffered a crushing defeat in the general election with 28% of the vote. Today @ElectCalculus suggests that Labour is on 28% of the vote and set to win a majority of 56 seats! Can @andyburnham really go the country on a system allowing a party with 28% of the vote to win a majority?
Our latest MRP poll with @PLMRLtd predicts that if there were a general election now, #Labour would win 353 seats, a majority of 56.
#Conservatives would be the official opposition on 90 seats and #Reform would be third on 81 seats.
