It's been 8 years since a gunman opened fire during Shabbat morning services at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh, murdering 11 innocent people and injuring 7 others. The attack marked the deadliest act of antisemitism in U.S. history. Today, the heartbreak of that horrific day remains. 11 innocent lives were stolen and an entire community was forever changed. We continue to mourn those so mercilessly taken from this world simply because they were Jewish. May the memories of Rose Mallinger, Jerry Rabinowitz, Joyce Fienberg, Irving Younger, Melvin Wax, Sylvan Simon, Bernice Simon, David Rosenthal, Cecil Rosenthal, Richard Gottfried, and Daniel Stein forever be a blessing.

When I mention that my top issue is not Israel, it is the safety of my community here in Michigan, this is what I mean. Ads like this are fundamentally untrue (it is Donald Trump and the voters that returned him to power that are responsible for this war, not the 75% of American Jews who voted for Kamals Harris), but they also make my family unsafe by granting a moral permission structure to attack Jews in America.
New @RebellionPac ad dropping in Michigan. We have to suffer here at home, so Israel can get all its wars. That’s why they buy politicians like Mike Rogers. He promised to serve Israel “unconditionally,” but never made that promise to you.

This ad is vile. One thing that's so despicable about far-left hatred of Israel is how quickly they just glide past the fact that Israel was subject to horrific terrorist violence. One does not have to agree with all Israeli policies (I certainly don't) to know that this is a grotesque caricature.
New low for normalized Jew-hate in the American Democratic Party. Very sad: Painting your political opponents as puppets of Jews, as this El-Sayed ad does, and as crazed baby-killers and money-grubbing villains who are the root cause of every bad thing not just in the world, but in your life—from wars to the price of eggs to the reason you can’t have free healthcare—is not just low-grade Jew-hate. It’s pure Third Reich stuff, translated directly from the original German. Do you remember when Jewish Democrats in Michigan explained that they would vote for El-Sayed despite his open disdain for Jews, since there are many other important issues they need him to fight for? That anything was worth it to “defeat MAGA”? Well, here’s El-Sayed’s answer to them: Don’t worry, all those issues we agree on, like healthcare, inflation, and climate change, I’m going to make them about Jews too! I will tell the public that the Jews are the reason they can’t have those things.

Dismissing a Jewish congressman’s objection to an antisemitic ad just proves the problem.
Maybe spend just a minute reflecting on why you lost.

Read the breakdown from @davidfrum: “Despite the implications of that El-Sayed ad: Americans spend $1.1 trillion a year on groceries. Canceling aid to Israel would deliver the equivalent of about 30 hours of that spending.” theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/1…

Required reading for all those interested in American Jewish views about Israel. The connection between the two communities today is stronger, not weaker, than even 3 years ago. Don’t believe the hater BS about US Jews dumping Israel. It’s just not true. jta.org/2026/10/26/ideas/u-s…

Anti-Zionists’ go-to UN “expert” Francesca Albanese accuses Israel of “genocide,” “domicide,” “urbicide,” “scholasticide,” “medicide” and “ecocide.” But “mediacide”? Now the NYT draws a line.

My values, my identity and my community are far more important to me than any individual election result. Regardless, it’s widely understood that I lost in my particular district for the same reasons this ad is repugnant, blatantly false, and incites even more violence against Jews. And sadly, you consistently add fuel to this slanderous and anti-Jewish fire.

If @AbdulElSayed truly means what he says about treating the Jewish community as he would treat his own children, then he would immediately condemn this dangerous ad as outrageously antisemitic and demand that it be taken down. If not, then he’s full of shit.

Cong. @RitchieTorres is right. Pretending that aid to Israel, a fraction of one percent of federal spending, is why health care and housing are unaffordable is not serious policymaking. It is scapegoating, and Jews vowed to never forget where that kind of politics leads.
FACT: The annual funding Israel receives from the US amounts to less than one-tenth of 1% of the federal budget. Less than 1/10th of 1%. FACT: That annual funding would cover only a few hours of federal health care spending. A few hours. Yet politicians who specialize in scapegoating would have you believe that Israel is responsible for America’s affordability crisis. Like every form of scapegoating before it, it is a dangerous lie.

Just to state the obvious: It’s entirely possible to oppose aid to Israel— whether on moral, foreign policy, or financial grounds — without promoting the fiction that such aid, or Israel itself, is responsible for what Americans pay for their groceries.

BREAKING: Ahead of President Obama’s Detroit rally with Dr. El-Sayed, 230 rabbis from 34 states plus DC sent Dr. El-Sayed an open letter standing in solidarity with the Michigan rabbis and leaders behind Nonnegotiable Michigan. Their request is simple: that when Dr. El-Sayed stands beside President Obama, he affirm our five nonnegotiables publicly and in his own words, and then demonstrate through his words and actions that he means them.

Antisemitism is disgusting, and there are no excuses for it. Leaders in both parties have to call it out clearly, every single time. That means denouncing influencers who platform hate and conspiracy, and calling out those who campaign with them. I’m glad to see more Democrats speaking out, and we need to keep doing it. jewishinsider.com/2026/10/ha…

New from @Conf_of_Pres: Jewish Organizations Condemn Treatment of Jewish Educators in Reggio Emilia, Call for Apology October 20, 2026, New York, NY — The Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, Jewish Federations of North America, ADL (the Anti-Defamation League), AJC (American Jewish Committee), and Prizmah released the following statement: We are appalled that a planned professional development trip of early childhood educators affiliated with Jewish institutions to the Reggio Children, Loris Malaguzzi International Center in Reggio Emilia, Italy was met with political litmus tests and antisemitic rhetoric. “Announcement of a trip to the Center by educators affiliated with Jewish institutions and by Israeli educators was met with protests and antisemitic rhetoric. There was also indication that several participants’ social media profiles were being searched for connections with Israel or the Israel Defense Force or support for Israeli policies. The response by Reggio Children was not to decry the protests but to issue a pledge educators could sign renouncing Israeli policies and military action. "There is no circumstance in which educators at Jewish institutions should be singled out for their personal views, social media or online profiles in an effort to identify connections to a country of deep religious, cultural, historic, and personal significance to Jewish people worldwide. Further, to use those connections against them is alarming and antisemitic. It must be recognized as such - not legitimized with political litmus tests. "This distressing incident continues a pattern of isolating Jews and Jewish institutions, limiting cultural exchange, learning and understanding, and suggesting that our full participation in civic spaces is contingent on our renouncing the State of Israel, the only Jewish state in the world seen for many Jews as the only clear refuge we have in the face of antisemitic violence. Bringing this trend into educational environments - into early childhood no less - is deeply disturbing. "In the days since the trip cancellation, trip organizers have been in ongoing conversation with Reggio Children and the municipality. We recognize that the mayor of Reggio Emilia has clarified that a signature was not required and has renounced political or religious litmus tests. We are similarly aware that a group of Israeli educators both refused to sign the statement and insisted on attending the event nonetheless, and reported warm treatment and appropriate security. Reggio Children has demonstrated that it now understands that Jewish delegations need clear security in the face of threats or protests, and they are in dialogue over the harms of the statement. Yet at the same time, the mayor continues to reaffirm the value of that very statement, and while direct references to Gaza were removed it remains an incongruous political affirmation denouncing “genocide,” a contextually clear and inaccurate reference to Israeli policy, on an organization devoted to early childhood education. This is insufficient. "We call on Reggio Children to issue an unambiguous public apology that acknowledges the antisemitism Jewish educators experienced, and to take concrete steps to ensure that educators of all backgrounds are welcomed, respected, and treated equally, regardless of their religious identity or historical ties to any country.  A genuine commitment to inclusivity, including the safety and security of participants, must be reflected not only in words, but in actions. "True educational exchange cannot occur under the shadow of political policing. To that end, we call for the Charter for Democratic and Participatory Education to ensure that when it calls out injustice against children, it does so in a way that does not exclusively single out Israel or Israeli policy, in content or substance, and does not specifically target Jews around the world. Indeed, any such language should reflect a commitment to justice for ALL children – including Israeli and Jewish children. "At a time when Jewish organizations and individuals are the targets of hate crimes and bias incidents, and especially in a week when four Jewish schools in the U.S. were threatened with bombs, the institutions dedicated to nurturing, inspiring, and educating those children must focus on their growth and wellbeing - without fear for their security and without needing to hide their identity. "We will continue to stand alongside our educators and support their access to training, professional development, and educational exchanges that help them strengthen their work with children and families and we will continue to ensure that Jewish children and the institutions and educators supporting them have opportunities to learn, grow, and thrive."

And here it is, again. Jews who are physically attacked are blamed for being attacked. Excuse making is done for the perpetrator of the attack. And blaming Israel for attacks on Jews - a grotesque conflation - is casually stated. The lack of moral clarity here is astounding.
DSA candidate Melat Kiros responded to criticism for not calling an attack on an Oct. 7 hostage-support demonstration in Colorado an act of antisemitism. “I think whether it was antisemitic or anti-Zionist, it was a hate crime.” 🎧 #TheConversation: politi.co/4B9muEp

"Anyone suggesting that this means I am giving up on Israel is trying to turn the ordinary rebalancing and management of a pension portfolio into a political issue. That is simply not the case. Our commitment to investing in Israel remains clear in the hundreds of millions of dollars in Israeli equities that our pension funds continue to hold." New York City pension funds have approximately $285 million invested in Israel’s thriving economy. Thank you, Comptroller Levine, for this important clarifying statement and for the work you do on behalf of all New Yorkers.
The economic relationship between New York City and Israel is deeply important, bringing substantial investment into our city and generating strong returns for our pension funds. Our funds invest around the world, including more than $285 million in Israel, primarily in equities. Israel remains one of the world’s most dynamic and innovative economies, and those holdings remain an important part of our portfolio. They also make clear that New York City’s pension funds are not engaging in BDS. I expressed my deep appreciation for the Israel-NYC economic relationship during my campaign for comptroller, and that appreciation remains unchanged. I also pledged to make every investment decision free of politics, based solely on its financial merits and my fiduciary responsibility to 750,000 current and future retirees. We apply those same principles to Israel Bonds. At present, a number of challenges, including constraints related to a rules change on our short-term investment desk made by the previous comptroller, prevent us from making direct purchases. We continue to evaluate this investment, as we do all potential investments. Anyone suggesting that this means I am giving up on Israel is trying to turn the ordinary rebalancing and management of a pension portfolio into a political issue. That is simply not the case. Our commitment to investing in Israel remains clear in the hundreds of millions of dollars in Israeli equities that our pension funds continue to hold. Like many Jewish New Yorkers, my deep personal connection to Israel is a part of who I am. It will not change. As New York City comptroller, I also have a solemn duty to safeguard our city’s pension funds, and I will not shirk that responsibility. I will continue to honor both commitments with integrity.
