Those in NC, please take a few moments to contact your legislators. HB259 is a step towards INequity in education. It goes against what research recommends & limits the funding for students from all backgrounds who have advanced needs @NAGCGIFTED #gifted
New NC education legislation (HB 259) is being voted on that covers many educational issues, including drastic changes to gifted & talented programming and cuts to funding. Action across the state is needed NOW! See our blog at the link below for more info ncagt.org/post/proposed-legi…

Always so energizing when I get to talk w/ the STEM + C2 gifted facilitators! Love hearing about kids AND teachers being excited & learning & that universal screening is changing principals' & teachers' views of gifted identification. ❤️working w/ @drannrobinson & the UALR team!

Sometimes I feel guilty and sad telling people how unsound the Myers Briggs tests are. I truly am sorry you are not an INFP.

Today I had the best introduction to a keynote ever. My favorite line: “Dr. Adelson is the mother of a 3-year-old daughter, an 8-year-old daughter, & her favorite son, me” Thank you, @FVFalcons & @DurhamPublicSch Advanced Academics, for inviting me & arranging the intro!

It’s been more than a decade since @BetsyMcCoach was my doctoral advisor, but she still knew what kind of gift to give me when we got to see each other in person! This makes me want to teach HLM and SEM again!

Today is my 4-year Twitter anniv. I was highly encouraged to join by the person hiring me for a job. Since then, I’ve moved states, had a baby, lived during a pandemic, had the program I moved for end, started my own business. I’m ok if the next 4 years have fewer life events.

This was a great article for a fantastic special issue. Excited that it’s open access for 2 months.
Guess what is now OPEN ACCESS for two months? ⬇️⬇️⬇️ Thanks to @SAGEeducation for making this possible.

So honored to have worked with @real_m_matthews , @DressageProf, @JoniLakin, and the rest of our team. I couldn’t have asked for better colleagues for this work the past 5 years!
Some of our editorial team had a chance to see each other in person at #AERA2022 🌞

My first conference since 2019 and excited for a final opportunity to represent #GCQ as co-Editor before our term is over. We've made a lot of gains in #openscience during our tenure and are looking forward to sharing about it.
Going to #AERA2022 ? Check out the session with our own @JillAdelson & @real_m_matthews discussing open science from the editors' perspective! Open Science 201: Research Life Cycle From Various Stakeholder Perspectives Sun, April 24, 8:00 to 9:30am PDT, Torrey Hills AB

My 2-year-old is preparing me for my first academic conference since 2019. Multiple times a day, she says, "Mommy, I have a question for you." Then she proceeds to tell me a statement. I think I'm ready for presenting at #AERA2022. #AcademicTwitter #AcademicChatter

A #gifted ed coordinator asked me this question. It's so great that I want to pose it to my colleagues -- What data are most convincing in encouraging teachers & principals to better support gifted specialists/nurturing? Are there particular data or articles you recommend?

Dr. Barr is a phenomenal psychologist, researcher, and person. He’ll be sharing his story and wearing His psychologist/educator hat. I encourage those considering it to join him!
Want to lift up this workshop I'm participating in this evening. PFLAG parents will share stories & introduce some terms, concepts, & processes relevant to LGBTQ+ youth. I'll talk about LGBTQ+ youth wellbeing & the impact + process of parental/caregiver support.

Would love to see @DurhamPublicSch develop an acceleration policy. It shouldn’t rely on individual teachers, schools, and especially parent advocacy for kids to have access to acceleration. #equity
Policy helps to make services available in a more equitable manner. What is your district’s acceleration policy? Don’t have one? Here’s some help. accelerationinstitute.org/re… #NAGC21

Children deserve to be academically/cognitively challenged. When they aren't, some will choose underachievement out of boredom. This is why we need to support teachers in meeting the needs of all students & why schoolwide cluster grouping & acceleration are important.
