In my latest article in Tablet Magazine I make the case for the alliance with Israel that the NatCon conference in Jerusalem should have made.
I make the case for a real America First position on Israel: treating a capable ally as a force multiplier against the China-Russia-Iran-North Korea axis. Weakening the partnership doesnโt make America safer. It hands adversaries openings and erodes U.S. influence.
I also argue that the rightโs growing flirtation with antisemitic conspiracy theories (Carlson, Fuentes, etc) divides Trump's coalition and substitutes ethnic score-settling for strategic judgment. It undercuts the equal citizenship the Founders actually defended.

Michigan candidate @AbdulElSayed is dangerous, disingenuous, and divisive.
Besides bullying a young student who had the courage to confront him, he engaged in spin to try to deflect from legitimate questions about his links to the terrorist umbrella group called the Muslim Brotherhood.
This has nothing to do with being Muslim. Millions of Muslims in America have nothing to do with that terrorist group and firmly reject it, including scores of valiant leaders who are part of the @BuildersMvt. Abdul El-Sayed causes harm to all of them by trying to hide behind that!
Abdul El-Sayed has numerous family connections to the Muslim Brotherhood, from funders to his father-in-law to his sister-in-law, who was on a terrorist watchlist under the Obama administration for her ties to the Muslim Brotherhood, among many others.
And El-Sayed himself has written to praise Muslim Brotherhood leaders, like Mohamed Morsi of Egypt, and to urge the suppression of those who opposed the Muslim Brotherhood!
The Muslim Brotherhood is an umbrella group that seeks to force Islam across the world, whatever means may be necessary to achieve that, including violence. From Egypt to the United Arab Emirates, it has been designated a terrorist organization by many governments in the Arab world and the West. France issued a report about how it had infiltrated French society, and we are seeing some of the results of its indoctrination and hateful extremism today.
El-Sayed even justified and rationalized terrorism on our shores here in the United States.
So, of course, we should all be very concerned about his ties to the Muslim Brotherhood.
The question at this point is not why he hasnโt disavowed the Muslim Brotherhood. He is a clever politician who will twist things to make himself seem less toxic and extremist.
The question is why anyone would support a man who endorses and praises terrorists.

Haviv Rettig Gur, whatever you think of him and his views, hosted me twice on his podcast to speak about Palestinian perspective and views, no matter how divergent and different mine are. He did not condition his hosting upon me appearing next to other Palestinians who disagree with me or agreed with him, or even other Israelis; he did not set this up as a debate, but as a conversation and a discussion that was elastic and allowed for mutual learning and engagement, not "gotchu" moments, even though we strongly disagreed on a variety of subjects.
On the other hand, Mr. Mehdi Hasan would not entertain talking to me after he blocked me for two years on social media unless I debated another Palestinian who disagreed with me on his platform, "Zeteo News," with him as the moderator of said debate. He was not interested in a one-on-one conversation with me as he has done with several other guests of his. You make of that what you will but it is absolutely the case that Zionists can often be exponentially easier to engage and speak with than anti-Zionists and the oracles of the โpro-Palestineโ industrial complex, particularly when it comes to embracing new and diverse Palestinian perspectives outside of the militantly-enforced orthodoxies, for the anti-Israel crowd is almost always interested in making a point, never actually making a difference.
Mehdi once wrote a book about how to win an argument even when you know youโre wrong. The trick is to be manipulative and dishonest.
Mehdi has never to my knowledge talked seriously about the Israeli historical experience as he demands of me for Palestinians.
And Mehdi is accusing me of ignoring Palestinians in an interview that, though it was meant to be focused on the Israeli experience, talked a lot about Palestinians.
