The key insight of this article for me was the explanation of how "in Heb 6:13–20 the Lord’s self-oath from Gen 22:16 means that God is God’s own faithfulness." A fully engaged & covenantal simplicity, not without metaphysics. Good thread on the argument's gestation period:
Yesterday my article was published, "Hope for Faithful Endurance: Divine Simplicity in Hebrews 6:13–20," in the Journal of Theological Interpretation.
I worked on this for about four years, and I would like to share a brief word here about that process.

This year our church shifted to having all the children in for the whole service. It's taken some getting used to for everyone but it is amazing to see the impact it's had in our family. Today, my 2 year old just launched into the Lord's Prayer while playing.

In our Autumn postgraduate research seminar in systematic theology here in Aberdeen we’ll be reading both Tanner’s ‘Theories of Culture’ and Webster’s ‘Culture of Theology’. Tomorrow begins with thinking through the compressed claims that open and set up Webster’s 1999 lectures.

Blessed Roodmas!
“Then I saw the Lord, the Man-King,
coming with power and strength to scale my heights.
I dared not defy the Maker’s decree.
Though the earth shook, I would not shatter or bend...
as the Young Hero—he was God Almighty—made battle-ready.”

Each day children, born and unborn, migrants and elderly persons, are discarded. Many brothers and sisters die sacrificed on the altar of profit, amid indifference. Yet every human being is sacred. It is the task of religions to remind the world of this!

This is an important book. To my knowledge, it is the first introductory textbook on the Apocrypha to consider non-Western traditions on equal footing with traditional lists of texts. That it is expertly written and eminently readable makes it all the more valuable as a textbook.

In Anglo-Saxon England, September was known as Hærfestmonað, 'harvest month', or Haligmonaþ, 'holy month', perhaps because of rituals celebrating the end of harvest.
Here's an extract from 'Winters in the World' on the month when summer gives way to the dark half of the year.
