Tomorrow is the last day to comment on Florida’s proposal to expand the Atlantic red snapper season to 39 days in 2026. These longer seasons would significantly increase recreational access to red snapper and improve state data collection and management. tinyurl.com/y8xknwya

‼️Open until March 10‼️ 🔔 Florida anglers: if you want a 39-day Atlantic red snapper season, there is still time to make your voice heard! 🗣️ The federal public comment period for our Atlantic Red Snapper Exempted Fishing Permit is open. Despite record levels of abundance in Atlantic red snapper population, federal management has limited Florida anglers to just one or two days in recent years. That’s where our EFP comes in! If approved, this innovative proposal would allow Florida to: 🎣 Test improved, state-led recreational data collection 🎣 Provide more accurate harvest information 🎣 Strengthen long-term management decisions 🎣 Allow for a proposed 39-day Atlantic red snapper recreational season in 2026 ‼️Don't wait! NOAA Fisheries is accepting public comment through Tuesday, March 10, 2026. Anglers - we strongly encourage you to submit feedback during the open federal comment period. 🗨️ Click here to comment: bit.ly/AtlanticRedSnapper_Pu…

BREAKING NEWS: Florida has requested a 39-day South Atlantic red snapper season for 2026! That would be 37 days longer than this year. Thank you, @GovRonDeSantis for your leadership on state management of this fishery and longer red snapper seasons. I look forward to working with you to continue fighting for recreational anglers in Northeast Florida, our coastal communities, and the Great State of Florida. As co-chair of the South Atlantic Red Snapper Task Force in the House, I am committed to supporting state management and to Make Fishing Great Again!
State management and expansion of Gulf snapper season has been a major boon for our Gulf of America communities, allowing so many Floridians and visitors to enjoy the Red Snapper our waters have to offer. Today, I was proud to announce that Florida anglers will soon be able to enjoy more Atlantic Red Snapper fishing as well. The Trump Administration has taken action to rein in the bureaucracy and return this power to the states, where it belongs. To that end, Florida has submitted a formal request to the federal government for state management of the recreational red snapper fishery. Just as it has on the Gulf coast, Florida’s management of Atlantic Red Snapper fishing will boost local economies along our Atlantic coast, supporting tackle and bait shops, hotels, restaurants, and the entire recreational fishing community.
