Remember: If you think someone is drink driving, call 999. If you think someone will drink driver at a later time of that day, call 101, give location and vehicle details. Drink driving ruins lives. End of. #RoadSafety #Fatal4 #Christmas

It’s National Police Staff Recognition Week and I’m fortunate to work in one of @ThamesVP’s largest Police Staff departments. I see how hard they work to deliver justice and many are professionals in their own right. It’s so inspiring. #proudtoserve #morethanjustsupport

We launched NICE Investigate Mobile App 10 days ago and frontline are saying streamlined process, improved application of Golden Hour principle, reduction in workload, sped up justice process and better experience for victims is a massive thumbs up all around! #digitalevidence

Completely agree. The number of digital devices we see seized has grown exponentially over the past 5+ years. That said, the type of crime has changed too meaning more complex investigations require more complex examinations.
2) Q2 - #wecops e.g. VR headsets, smart watches, TVs, Remote storage, cloud, etc. Tech is moving at an extremely fast pace, and a one size fits all approach won't work. We need flexibility, knowledge, skills, these are expensive.

I can appreciate that being a real risk especially when policing faces such budgetary constraints, this is why trying to find collaborative ways of working and centralised national support could reduce this risk. e.g. support from PDS and the FCN #wecops

Most forces have managed to transition over to the Code but agree that most forensic organisations have gaps in accreditation which will take a few years to fully close #wecops

#wecops collaboration is key 😊👍🏻 so many labs, if any, actually speak to each other outside of maybe courses/conferences, etc. Having a dedicated network of practitioners, maybe within specific areas of crime, might be a good shout?

I often hear colleagues talking about the cost of achieving accreditation, especially with the broader scope of the regulatory regime. This can undervalue the significance of well tested, rigorous assurance which is essential to maintain public confidence in the #CJS #WeCops
Q2: Are there any negative aspects to the introduction of statutory regulation in forensic science? #WeCops @KHannam33 @CRust58285

There are often extra checks and balances needed, but I think over time CSI teams will be able to find the right balance to deliver the service required without it being cumbersome #wecops

2/2 like this being said. On the whole I believe that the vast majority are understanding of why things have had to change and are supportive. Nothing worth doing is ever easy… #wecops

I have seen negativity from forensic practitioners out of force about how it impacts on demand and ability to process more scenes and therefore get results. That said, I am yet to ever see anything introduced that changes policing culture go without something 1/2

Q1: How well is forensic science and the new regulation understood across the policing? What is needed to enhance this understanding? #WeCops @KHannam33 @CRust58285

If we don’t have ‘re-tweets’ anymore what do we call the re-posts? I’m thinking they can be a rex… I am really not a fan of the re-brand at all though.

This is incredibly sad: dailyrecord.co.uk/news/uk-wo… As a menopause specialist and GP, every year I see hundreds of women who are struggling with menopause, and thousands more reach out on social media. One of the reasons I decided to write my book was because a lady called Victoria took her own life in 2021, after a two-year struggle with her mental health. How many more women do we have to see take their own life before this is taken seriously? The lack of knowledge and recognition of the impact of hormones on our mental health means that many women are missing out on the support they need and this urgently needs to change.

I’m just trying to understand what other forces do to protect this time and ensure the officers get time back. I have colleagues that would appreciate the information. Thank you! 2/2

Do any of my police officer followers from other forces at the rank of Inspector + have issues with claiming time for additional hours worked (sometimes called TOIL or Managed Time) as part of regular duties e.g work extra due to length of shift cover or kept on? 🧵 1/2
