“Yes” versus “Maybe Later” has no place beyond parody.
Really not enjoying this new UI trend of offering two options "Yes" and "Maybe later". My blood pressure spikes by 5 points every single time. I want my "No" option back. UI designers, stop making me hate you.

Where do you draw the line between “exploiting a cognitive bias” and “designing a dark pattern”?

"As product people, we can take advantage of these cognitive biases to better convey our message and create better converting products, without being evil." Proceeds to recommend evil dark patterns designed to ensnare users 🙄🙃

Dark patterns are not a good way of keeping your users happy Trick them once and they might not notice, but as soon as they do they'll lose all trust in you. If you lie about something small like this, what else are you lying about? A good experience doesn't include deception
UI/UX Tip 💡 App speed matters. But what also matters is the perception (!) of speed. Instead of showing 0% as the initial progress value, you can put a small number so that it looks like your app is already doing some work.

I'm back from a week at my mom's house and now I'm getting ads for her toothpaste brand, the brand I've been putting in my mouth for a week. We never talked about this brand or googled it or anything like that. As a privacy tech worker, let me explain why this is happening. 🧵

Here's the letter. Apple doesn't specify what updates to Parler's "content moderation practices" led it to reverse its ban, continuing the irony of Apple content moderating Parler's inadequate content moderation with entirely opaque content moderation xitter.cf/RepKenBuck/status/1384…

It is ironic how many authors have had variations of the saying "A lie can travel around the world while the truth is putting it's pants on" falsely attributed to them.

Ring-police partnerships undermine public trust, threaten privacy and communities, and could be used to identify protesters and chill free speech. It's time for Amazon and Ring to admit the dangers of these partnerships and end them for good. act.eff.org/action/tell-amaz…

Fake coronavirus maps that spread malware. Coronavirus phishing emails. A coronavirus tracker Android app that’s actually ransomware. The attacks keep coming. Hackers are exploiting our fear and hunger for info about the pandemic. Be careful of what you click on and download.
#ESETresearch ALERT: #COVID19 #Android #Ransomware: If you installed malicious Coronavirus Tracker app that locked your smartphone and requested ransom, use "4865083501" code to unlock it. Key is hardcoded. @LukasStefanko Details: domaintools.com/resources/bl…
