PSDT must be protected at all costs. Let him go and chill on his wine farm in Riebeek-Kasteel, and just emerge ahead of every Test season like Mariah Carey at Christmas.

Every time Nyoni goes off the pitch, we lose all midfield control in the pivot. Every time Wirtz isn’t playing as the 10, we look toothless in attack without a connector and receiver in half spaces. Interesting dilemmas for Iraola’s 4-2-3-1, both are undroppable in this system.

Yes, he was Liverpool's Player of the Year last season, and he kept trying in a truly awful campaign. But let's face it, he was the best of a VERY, VERY bad bunch.

I'm well aware others were also awfu, and I don't want to make him a scapegoat, but I'm going off Dominik Szoboszlai more by the game. Barring the odd spectacular goal - fair play - I'm not really sure he's great, or even close to being great, at anything.

The overreaction on here when Liverpool lose is wild, but it's been even more wild the last couple of years. You'd think we got tonked yesterday when we played well throughout. Won 5 on the bounce against some tough teams, then one loss and it's doom and gloom. Bonkers.

Even if it does all go to shit under Iraola (I don't think it will), it still won't make sacking Slot the wrong choice. I don't know how people have managed to forget last season so quickly. Keeping him on would have been the same as keeping Rodgers in the summer of 2015.

The Slot sacking was just the board being pressurised, expectations were too high. They wouldn’t have sacked Klopp for finishing 5th and achieving champions league football. Arne Slots football was desire to watch but at least he had a plan. All we do now is take possession.

More than anything, these last few weeks have felt fun with Liverpool, you can feel something building. Been a while since I’ve felt as engaged with the team. There are issues that need to be addressed, but we have a quality manager.

Mixed feelings on the result, but happy with the green shoots we’re seeing. What is clear from the past few games is that, post-Klopp, there really is only one way for this club to play football. And of what’s out there, Iraola is best placed to deliver it.

Liverpool immediately worse when Trey Nyoni went off. Some showing from him. So composed and such good use of the ball. Szoboszlai comes on and he’s slow, sluggish and a hindrance. Iraola has a problem on his hands if he’s used in the middle.
