Minnesota 2026 midterms are fast approaching.
Mark these essential dates. So your voice can be heard!
📆 Sep 15: National Voter Registration Day
Check or update your registration. To vote you must be a U.S. citizen, 18 by Election Day, and a Minnesota resident for at least 20 days before Nov. 3. Doing it now saves time later: mnvotes.gov/register
📆 Sep 18: Absentee voting begins
No excuse needed. Request a mail ballot, or vote in person. County offices generally open Sep. 18; some city halls start Oct. 16. Check your site: sos.state.mn.us (search “voting locations before election day”).
📆 Oct 13: Pre-register deadline
Last day for online or mail registration to be received so your name is already on the list. Miss it? You can still register in person when you vote, with proof of residence.
📆 Oct 16: Early voting starts
This is the in-person period when many sites let you put your ballot straight into a tabulator. Same idea as Election Day, just earlier.
📆 Nov 2: Last day to vote early in person
Also the last day to request an absentee ballot. Hours vary; many sites close at 5 p.m. Don’t cut it close.
📆 Nov 3: Election Day
Polls 7 a.m.–8 p.m. If you’re in line at 8, you vote. Stay in line. Mail ballots must be received by 8 p.m. Election Day, not just postmarked.
In-person absentee drop-off is generally due by 5 p.m. Same-day registration is available with proof of residence.

Most Minnesotans don't belong to either party. Yet every election, the rules hand the ballot right back to the same two teams, and we're told to hold our noses and pick the lesser of two evils.
That isn't representation.
It's a club, and regular Minnesotans aren't invited.
Here's how we change it. If Rebecca gets 8% of the vote, the Libertarian Party becomes a major party in Minnesota, with ballot access for every seat in the state.

Election day is less than 2 weeks away. The closer it gets, the more hate mail I get.

Your local butcher can process beef. So why can't you buy it from them?
Rebecca Whiting, Libertarian for Minnesota U.S. Senate, explains it on the Rip It Up Podcast with Rev. Tim Christopher.
To legally sell beef to consumers, farmers have to use a USDA or state inspected processor.
However, many small town butcher shops simply can't afford the upgrades and paperwork it takes to get inspected, so the meat they process can't be sold. Because of this bottleneck farmers end up driving hours and waiting more than a year for an appointment somewhere else.
This cost contributes to the high prices you see when grocery shopping
The farmers have the animals and the product!
What they're missing is a government stamp, and the only way to get it runs through a system built for big packers, not small town butchers.
Rebecca wants to clear that red tape so farmers can sell to their neighbors, small butcher shops can stay in business, and families can buy local beef!

That's Chip Tangen's answer to voters who like him but worry about "spoiling" the race.
Chip, Libertarian for Minnesota Secretary of State, explains in this short video why that worry keeps Minnesota stuck!
In 2023 the legislature raised the threshold for major party status from 5% to 8%, making it even harder for new choices to reach your ballot.
Chip points out that at the same committee hearing, some ranked choice voting supporters were backing that higher bar. As he puts it, "Make that make sense."
He has a fix!
Chip backs the Minor Party Ballot Access bill (HF 3534) so viable third parties can regularly field candidates, and he sees real potential in proportional voting.
That would give conservatives in the cities and liberals in rural Minnesota a real chance to have their voices heard. More parties, more choices, and every vote counts.
