“If pollsters are wrong this time, this is the year we stop listening to them!!1” Yeah, people said that the last time and the time before that. And yet, here people are: taking them seriously.

Imagine me moving to Egypt and trying to insist that Drew is just as Egyptian a name as Mohamed lmao
Abdul El-Sayed: The name Abdulrahman Mohamed El-Sayed is just as American a name as Mike or Donald.

Yeah this is really good. Btw you can also just tell your Claude Code "Create and deploy an extension for my browser that shows YouTube thumbnails from halfway of the video instead of the user-uploaded version. Include a toggle between the two", works great

This is a great dynamic.
Gwynne Shotwell (President of SpaceX) on her biggest realizations while working for @elonmusk : "There is two really important realizations for that. First of all, when Elon says something, you have to pause and not immediately say out, blurt out, well, that's impossible, or there's no way we're going to do that, I don't know how to do that. So you zip it, and you think about it, and you find ways to get that done. And the other thing I realized, and it made my job satisfaction substantially harder. So I always felt like my job was to take these ideas and kind of turn them into company goals, make them achievable and kind of roll the company over from this steep slope, get it comfortable. And I noticed every time I felt like we were there, we were rolling over, people were getting comfortable, Elon would throw something out there, and all of a sudden we're not comfortable and we're climbing that steep slope again. But then once I realized that that's his job, and my job is to get the comfortable, close to comfortable, so he can push again and put us back on that slope. Then I started liking my job a lot more. Instead of always being frustrated.

To understand how Elon works, you must also understand how Gwynne works:

RIP
BREAKING: Jeff Gregory, a 55-year-old pilot from Pennsylvania, has been identified as the pilot of the LearJet 60 that crashed yesterday in Palm Beach County, Florida. Jeff had 2 decades of flying experience, according to those familiar with him. His family are devout Christians and active in their local church. He leaves behind a beautiful wife and several wonderful children. Please pray for his family and friends.

Adam Robinson, whose family perished on the jet crash was active on X, like us. Great post I found below, how he left Wall Street, to spent more time with his family. Victims like this, deserve better, not conspiracies. God bless him and his family. 🙏 ❤️
In my 20’s, I used to work on Wall Street. People my age now (45) said they were working 70, 80, 90 hours a week for their families…but all their families actually wanted was their presence. They didn’t understand why their families resented how much they worked when they lived in a nice house, and their kids went to private schools. It was just the world we all lived in. We knew nothing else. I decided early in my startup journey that wasn’t going to be me. My co-founders and I have always had a policy of quitting at 5 or 5:30. By that, I mean: > Shut off my laptop > No more work talk > Go home to my family Frequently I’m out even earlier - 3-5, depending on whether I want to do something with the kids. I rarely travel for work and don’t entertain for work. My family life gives me energy for my work. My work gives me energy for my family life. I'm trying to stay not burnt out and excited about this for several decades. Can every founder choose this? Maybe not everybody, but more people have the choice than realize they do. There is great reward that comes from designing a business around the life you want.

Haley Stevens chief of staff put out a press release lol dude you aren’t the main character. This isn’t even a partisan message, but my advice to young Hill staff is to always have the humility to recognize no one elected you.
New: Statement from Haley Stevens’ chief of staff Justin German confirms many of her team have resigned & they back Abdul El-Sayed for #MISen “We are shocked and heartbroken by Congresswoman Stevens’ decision to support Mike Rogers.”
