5Am Earth has registered over 100,000 agricultural plots on Cardano, combining field records with satellite verification.
The verifiable farm data can be reused across lending, insurance, and purchasing decisions without exposing personal information. A proposed Seedstars pilot aims to connect these records to smallholder credit.

Cardano Foundation Urges SEC to Put Digital Commodity Status Into Rules
The Foundation joined five other blockchain organizations in asking the SEC to write digital commodity classification into binding rules.
ADA is already listed as an example. The letter wants clearer secondary market treatment, safeguards for the voluntary process, and confirmation that the underlying asset is not a security.

Two vulnerabilities (CVE-2026-109618 and CVE-2026-109619) reported for PHP, the web programming language, affecting servers running popular apps like WordPress and Magento, with patches released October 21, 2026 after details leaked early.
Exploitation was confirmed in the wild soon after disclosure, prompting quick WAF protections and patching by IT teams, as unauthenticated attacks could turn visited sites into vectors for credential theft or device exploits.

The first Research Exchange looked at how to reward informed DRep decisions instead of just activity, and the risks when many representatives use the same AI model.
Shared AI reasoning can produce correlated votes and reduce independence. No new reward system or voting procedure was announced this is ongoing research.

Cardano Foundation Opposes MiCA Expansion Into
Direct StakingThe Foundation submitted a response to the European Commission arguing that non-custodial ADA delegation should not be treated the same as services where intermediaries hold or control client assets.
Delegation leaves tokens under the holder’s control. DeFi oversight should focus on actual control, not open-source code alone. Consistent supervision across EU member states is also recommended.

Earlier this year, the SEC classified $ADA as a digital commodity, not a security.
However, this classification only appears in the explanation of the new crypto rules, not in the rules themselves.
Six blockchain organizations have asked the SEC to write it into the rules. We co-signed the letter, alongside @StellarOrg, @Hedera, @AptosLabs, @AvaLabs and @Chainlink.
