For now, it appears the worst of this weekend's #noreaster will stay south of NH. Rain & wind can each defoliate trees when they're going into winter dormancy. Do the leaves hang on for October colors or does weather ruin the potential display?

Via Facebook. Autumn-like nights the weekend brought temps in the 40s as far south as the Boston area. The dry air with warm days and chilly nights has made a few trees "forget" it's still July.
Winter in northern Alaska. From here it slowly moves south until January. Seems a bit early but not surprising given the late-lingering snow on NH's Presidential Range & the accumulating snow Montana had early this month
❄️Accumulating wet snow is expected Sunday into Monday across the North Slope/Brooks Range as a cold front works southeast from the Chukchi Sea. Here's a look at our expected amounts. Plan ahead for winter travel conditions, especially along the Dalton Hwy over Atigun Pass. #akwx

ALT Map showing expected 48-hour snowfall from Sunday through Monday across Alaska's North Slope and Brooks Range. A broad band of accumulating snow stretches from near Anaktuvuk Pass east toward Kaktovik, with the highest totals of 3-6+ inches across northern slopes of the Brooks Range and lighter amounts elsewhere.
Currently winter in South America. Sounds like a good one
How does over 13 feet of snow before the end of the month sound? That’s how much Portillo said could arrive, according to “reliable forecasts.” powder.com/news/ski-portillo…
Fall-like dewpoints at 9:30 pm! Andover & New London in the 30s! This "Labor Day dryness" combined with today's 38-mph peak wind gust (Meredith) to cool the water at the height of summer. Wouldn't be surprised if one of the warmer bays is found "steaming off" at sunrise. #nhwx
Weather-related injury in Tuftonboro this afternoon. According to a Facebook fire dispatch feed, a tree fell on a person, who was transported to a hospital by ambulance. #nhwx
Storm Reports: Trees & wires down in Meredith, Wakefield, and Strafford. Laconia Airport wind gust to 47 mph. #nhwx
SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING until 4 pm, south of a line from Newfound Lake-Meredith Bay-Ossipee. Main threat is from wind gusts, 60 mph possible. If you're on the water get to port!
If you're in the #NHLakesRegion and don't like the #smoke, don't travel south today. It's worse in Southern #NH and #MA. #nhwx
Last winter's snow finally vanished from NH's mountains today. Dedicated skiers may now travel to South America's mountains, which are reportedly having a very snowy winter right now.
This should raise the lake water temp

Snow in the northern Rockies. For NH this means the cold is still able to hit. If/when it does, sun heats our low elevations but freezing just 5k ft above. That enables more/larger hail & flash floods in t-storms, and mtn hikers unprepared for winter conditions above treeline.
A #thunderstorm with golf ball #hail and tree-felling wind skirted the southwestern edge of the #nhlakes region but no reports from within. Hail dented car & cracked windshield in Contoocook. Chaser spotted rotating wall cloud near Salem. #nhwx
5:12 pm. The cell to our SW has serious hail. Dented cars & accumulated on grass near Windsor. Moving E at 30. Wouldn't be surprised if someone near Raymond gets a pic of a funnel from that cell.
Radar at 4:30 pm. Severe T-storm watch until 9 p.m. The strongest cells could have large hail, 65 mph gusts, and maybe a small tornado. That activity west of Bristol just triggered a warning for hail & wind. Tilton/Sanbornton "up next".
This heat dome, IF it happens as shown, would probably expand & shrink a few times as well as shift about. That would send bursts of heat to New England, like ocean waves from the SW. Each one retreats, letting Canadian maritime weather occupy the interval.
