When the left wins, it’s brilliant digital campaigning. When the right wins, it’s social media manipulation undermining democracy.

Media analysis is complicated by the fact that it's so difficult to measure tone. James Landale's brief BBC report is positive, relaxed, upbeat; he's almost smiling by the end. There's no sense of the ominous, damning tone one might expect of a journalist reporting on a horrifically violent state in the middle of a genocide.
