Warning ⚠️: Graphic thread — proceed at your own discretion. These are some of the unarmed citizens who were brutally massacred by samia suluhu hassan during the October 2025 sham election. Her own commission, under Chande, admits to 518 deaths—but that number is a deliberate understatement, far below the reality. The truth is devastating: thousands of families have mourned, and many are still searching for their loved ones. People have disappeared without a trace. @CNNAfrica (@LarryMadowo) has uncovered mass graves. In an attempt to mislead the public, the Chande Commission has dismissed these images as AI-generated. Meanwhile, @BenDoBrown has done critical work verifying their authenticity. This was not an accident. This was not chaos. This was a massacre—and it demands accountability. @UN @UNHumanRights @HouseForeignGOP @SFRCdems @SenateForeign @StateDeputySpox @EUCouncil #TanzaniaMassacre #SamiaMustGo #Accountability

Congratulations, comrade @TunduALissu, for defeating the trumped-up treason charges. The conviction for “incitement” is meant to give tyrant @SuluhuSamia a pyrrhic solace. Today is a triumph of fearlessness, focus and the truth over the culture of impunity and institutional lies. The struggle continues. Telling the truth is a revolutionary act. #SocialismIsTheSolution #RevolutionNow

“Today the High Court has confirmed what we have said from day one: the treason charge was a political fabrication. The prosecution failed to prove any intention to intimidate the government. Instead of ordering my release after 577 days in detention, the court has convicted me of an offence I was never charged with and never given a chance to defend. This is not justice. This is damage control. History will record how the court searched for a lesser charge simply to keep me in prison.” Tundu Antipas Lissu November 6, 2027 —Admin.

Tanzania High Court's ruling acquitting comrade Tundu Lissu of the politically motivated treason charges is a victory against the ultimate weapon of state intimidation. The Tanzanian regime tried to threaten him with the death penalty simply for demanding free, fair, and transparent electoral reforms but failed to prove its malicious claims because truth cannot be hidden by judicial overreach. However, the decision to convict him on the engineered, lesser charge of "incitement" and to sentence him to four years in prison is a glaring reminder of how autocrats weaponize the judiciary to silence legitimate opposition. Convicting him for his rightful defense of democracy - his call for "No Reforms, No Election" - proves that the state manufactured an offense purely to keep a powerful voice of the people locked away. From Kampala to Dar es Salaam, our struggle against generational dictatorships and electoral autocracy remains unified. A cage can restrain bodies, but it can never imprison the spirit of freedom ignited across the region. We stand with you, Chadema, and with you the great people of Tanzania, in rejecting the ongoing persecution. Aluta Continua!

As President Ruto attends his daughter’s wedding in Tanzania today, his host, President Suluhu, has jailed opposition leader Tundu Lissu for four years. He will remain behind bars until 2030. It would be laughable if it were not so tragic that Tundu Lissu was convicted of a fabricated offence. Tundu Lissu is a freedom fighter who was shot 16 times in 2017 and survived that assassination attempt. After 25 life-saving surgeries in Belgium, and left with one bullet still lodged near his spine, he chose to return home to Tanzania to continue the struggle. He has now spent 577 days in prison on fabricated treason charges. In a clear “what can you do about it” attitude, Suluhu has hosted Ruto the same leader who has facilitated the abduction of Tanzanians from Kenya to celebrate the jailing of a political prisoner. The timing is no coincidence. Sentencing Tundu Lissu on the same day William Ruto attends his daughter’s wedding in Tanzania is a deliberate message to all who seek change: the abductors and torturers stand united. They will pop champagne, eat cake, and celebrate Tundu’s sentencing. To the three cowardly Tanzanian judges who sentenced an innocent man: the wrath of Tanzanians will befall you. To Suluhu the butcher: Your day of reckoning is coming. Tundu Lissu remains defiant; the ideas and ideals he lives by continue to ignite the fire of change. He is physically in jail, but his defiant spirit will liberate Tanzania very soon. The illegitimate government of Suluhu will fall, and she and her enablers will face their day in court. That day is coming. Aluta Continua! #TunduLissu #Tanzania #Chadema

A complete mockery of 'justice.' Four years in prison for a slogan: 'No Reforms, No Elections.' This is @SuluhuSamia's #Tanzania: exclude your rivals, win 98%, kill 500+ protesters, then jail your main challenger on a fabricated charge.

All people of goodwill and supporters of democracy across the world are relieved to see the trumped up treason charges against Comrade Tundu Lissu collapse, following his acquittal today. These charges should never have been brought in the first place. Lissu’s only crime was to call for basic reforms to the electoral architecture in Tanzania to guarantee a fair process. He has lost over two years of his life in custody as he fought off the charges. We encourage Ndugu Lissu, the CHADEMA Party and all our Tanzanian brothers to take heart and remain strong in their pursuit of justice and freedom, in the knowledge that all forces of regression are usually ultimately defeated.

Urgent: Arrests of civilians and internet shutdown in Tanzania on the day of the Tundu Lissu judgement. I am writing to draw your urgent attention to events unfolding in Tanzania today, Friday 6 November 2026, the day on which judgement is expected in the case against Tundu Lissu. According to accounts from people who escaped arrest, police have detained a number of peaceful civilians this morning. Some of those detained were reportedly taken from St. Joseph Cathedral in Dar es Salaam, a place of worship where people would ordinarily expect to be safe. The whereabouts of those taken remain unknown at the time of writing. In addition, internet access across the country has been cut. Social media can only be reached through VPN services, which severely limits the ability of citizens, journalists, and families to share information or confirm the safety of those detained. I respectfully ask that all people of Tanzania and the world: 1. Monitor and document these arrests and the internet shutdown. 2. Call on the Tanzanian authorities to disclose the location and legal status of all persons detained, and to release those held for peaceful conduct. 3. Urge the restoration of full internet access. So far, the initial judgement is that Tundu Lissu is not guilty of Treason We will share further verified information as it becomes available. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Please circulate and share widely with your colleagues and wider networks. @MariaSTsehai @mangekimambi @lifeofmshaba @Liberatus80 @Mwabuk2Boniface @HildaNewton21 @UKMissionGeneva @UNHumanRights @aliciakearns @KemiBadenochHQ @USAmbTanzania @UKParliament @SenateForeign @andyburnham @Europarl_EN @IAMartin_ @MwangiBonnie @bbcswahili @dwnews @LarryMadowo
