It's official: Formula 1 will stage a long-anticipated return to the African continent in the 2030s. The #AfricanGP will mark the first F1 race on the continent in almost 40 years, with the last South African Grand Prix having taken place at Kyalami in 1993. This time, F1 has a 10-year agreement in place to race in Rwanda. Though an exact timeframe has not been announced, the African Grand Prix will join the calendar “in the early 2030s”. The race will take place at a brand new purpose-built circuit in Bugesera. The new track has not yet broken ground but is expected to be open for business early next decade. The Bahrain Grand Prix... in Malaysia! It has been confirmed that Sepang International Circuit will return to the calendar this year, on October 2-4, to stand in as host of the Bahrain Grand Prix. Taking place between the Azerbaijan and Singapore Grands Prix, the "Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia" has come about as part of an agreement reached between F1, the FIA, the Government of Malaysia and the Government of Bahrain. The Bahrain Grand Prix was originally scheduled to take place in April, but was called off along with the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix following the start of the US-Iran war in the Middle East. In its press release, Formula 1 says that the “rest of the schedule for 2026 remains unchanged”, though doubts remain over the viability of the final two races of the season – in Qatar and Abu Dhabi – being able to take place. The ongoing war means that the situation is uncertain, and is also believed to have caused delays to the announcement of the 2027 Formula 1 calendar, which was previously expected to begin in Bahrain next March. Silverstone is expecting record attendance at the #BritishGP this year - but will the total be a new all-time record for F1? Last year's British Grand Prix had 500,000 attendees over four days. Tickets for this year's race have mostly sold out, while there has also been an expansion in capacity - most notably at the Landostand, which is supersized in 2026. F1's record 4-day attendance is 520,000 set at the 1995 Australian Grand Prix, Adelaide's last appearance on the calendar. Will the record be broken by the 2026 British Grand Prix? #BritishGP #F1 #Silverstone #Formula1
