When you call 999, your call is graded. I - Immediate Response - 15 Minutes S - Significant Response - 1 Hour E - Extended Response - 24 Hours If a suspect is still on scene, there is a threat to life or damage to property is imminent, it’ll most likely be an Immediate Response. If you’ve been assaulted and the suspect has left or is no longer nearby, or if your house has been broken into but the suspect has left it’ll be a significant response. If you come home and there’s graffiti on your wall, it’ll most likely get an extended response. These are just examples and not exclusively the rule, depending on vulnerability of the victim and other factors. 👀 So for example yesterday we paraded eight response capable vehicles (bear in mind most Police Officers are *not* blue light trained) and five non response vehicles. Late afternoon all of our units were all on scene at emergencies and there was one immediate response call outstanding and over 30 significant response calls outstanding. I took the last immediate response call, because I had been out to supervise a sudden death, but this is an entirely normal scenario pretty much everyday. 🤷🏼‍♂️ Call volume out weighs demand. We do not have enough Cops on Response Teams to meet the demand. 😞 It’s that simple. 👀 My previous response team and my current response team and the teams all over London work as hard as they can every shift to get to as many calls as possible every day. But they can’t rush what they deal with at each call. 💯 That’s why there’s delays getting to significant response calls. 🤷🏼‍♂️ #ThinBlueLine 🚨

No ifs or buts, they would be able to if: (1) they were properly resourced & supported (2) they weren’t so overwhelmed by the work of other agencies (3) they weren’t constantly subject to the whims of politicians (& newspapers) who don’t have a clue what they’re talking about…

Of course I wish we were in the EU for a huge number of reasons but seeing the EU’s response today - not only the sanctions and bans but the generosity of their support - and not being part of it really hurts. That’s the side I want to be on.

I would, calmly & politely, like to disagree with almost every word of this opinion piece - certainly as it relates to policing... Over the years, I worked with some outstanding Schools Officers - who did what they did precisely because they cared so deeply about young people...

Asking the police to enforce this is, quite frankly, ridiculous. We spent all weekend trying and failing to get to every missing person, every domestic abuse case, every mental health crisis, every pub fight, every car crash and every ASB report... so where do we fit this in?
Face coverings must be worn in shops and supermarkets in England from Friday 24 July, Boris Johnson has announced. Enforcement will be carried out by police, not retail staff, and anyone who does not comply will face a fine of up to £100. Latest: trib.al/bhQO08M

This is why we need to keep the conversation going. Dressing up as banter but not realising the impact. Powerful. #basichumanity
"If you don't educate people, they'll keep growing up in that sort of society and you'll not get meaningful change." Michael Holding and @ejrainfordbrent say that institutionalised racism must be eradicated for the good of humanity. #BlackLivesMatter

Would like to speak to someone from Platinum Drives & Landscaping, believed to be working in Meadowcroft area, Aylesbury. Grateful if someone from the company could get in touch, or if anyone knows where they're working... @TVP_Aylesbury

Today’s false “suicide rise” tweet is still circulating. So a few social media rules on suicide: •check source before RT’ing, even in a good cause •doubt any conveniently rounded statistic, like “200% rise” •be aware alarming stories can cause distress to people at risk

The lies begin. The backlog in the criminal courts has *NOT* been caused by Covid-19. It has been exacerbated, but was already nearly 40,000 cases in the Crown Court pre-Covid. The delays are due to the govt’s refusal to resource the justice system. Don’t let them lie to you.
