Texas to Ohio once. 16 hour drive Honestly, it wasn't so bad. I started really early in the morning, put on an audio book, a few podcasts, and I treated it like a meditation and media day
My American friend in Tokyo asked how far I drive to see my parents. "Two hours," I said. "Oh nice. So they live close." Close?? In Japan, two hours is a trip. We stop at a rest area. We buy souvenirs. We text the family "we made it." Tokyo to Osaka is about 6 hours by car. Japanese people talk about that drive like it was the Oregon Trail. Then he casually mentioned he once drove 14 hours. For a wedding. And drove back the next day. So I need to hear this from more of you. What's the longest drive you've ever done in one go? From where to where? ๐Ÿš— (Texans: "Texas to Texas" counts.)

Just finished the latest Helluvaboss episodes. Honestly, the season is looking really promising! I thought episode 3 would be tasteless but it's shockingly well presented and even researched bravo

This was an unnecessary crash out. I got emotional here and lashed out without reason. I stand by the spirit of what I said: "the people making this political are outside the fandom" what's more accurate to say "they made it political first and continue to harass people who just want to have fun" I did exactly the same thing when I responded to OPs post, and I deserve the criticism I got. I apologise for lashing out
Fem!Malfoy...you've already exposed yourself as someone who actually knows nothing about the situation Everyone in the world is "familiar with Harry Potter". It was a worldwide hit that was as important to modern culture as World of Warcraft or Game of Thrones. The people making this political are the people who have chosen to remove themselves from the fandom. Those same people have harassed, threatened, and browbeat the author into being their political opponent when she was their biggest supporter for decades. They completely radicalised her by their own behavior Malfoid is a response to the last decade and a half of the most insane people on the internet making everyones lives miserable. Compound that with the male loneliness epidemic as well as about 13 other factors and we're experiencing a massive cultural shift as people just want to have fun and feel hope again You're not better than anyone else because you want politics removed from your fandom. It's something gamers, nerds, and comic fans have been screaming about since 2016 (i'd argue as far back as 2008). Be silent and enjoy the ride if you can't be bothered to learn why people you don't agree with are so passionate about this

One of my favourite Harry Potter loopholes doesn't even involve magic. It involves exploiting the Muggle economy. Hagrid tells us there are 17 Sickles to a Galleon. Sickles are silver, Galleons are gold. Simple enough. Except gold and silver don't have a fixed exchange rate in the Muggle world. Their market value fluctuates constantly. Before 1900, the gold-to-silver ratio averaged around 16:1, which is pretty close to the wizarding world's 17:1 rate. Throughout much of the twentieth century, however, it averaged around 45:1. See where this is going? Wait until the market heavily favours gold. Melt your Galleons down and sell the gold in the Muggle world. Use the money to buy as much silver as possible, then take that silver to Gringotts and have it converted into Sickles. Finally, exchange those Sickles for Galleons at the fixed 17:1 rate. Congratulations. You've potentially turned a small pile of wizarding gold into a much larger pile of wizarding gold, simply by exploiting the difference between Muggle market prices and Gringotts' fixed exchange rate. No Dark Arts. No Horcruxes. No elaborate schemes. Just precious metals, a fixed exchange rate and a wizard who understands arbitrage. The real question is why nobody in the wizarding world seems to have built an entire financial empire around this.
What makes the least sense in the entire Harry Potter story?

You like the Fem!Malfoy trend for culture war bs for a character from a series you've never engaged with. I like it because I'm actually familiar with Harry Potter, and I can find enjoyment in it again after the author rotted her brain on politics. We are not the same.

A friendly reminder that J.K. Rowling was, and is, a brilliant author. Modern critics try to hold Harry Potter up against standards it never aimed to achieve. When we talk of Malfoid or fanficsโ€”fun though they areโ€”never forget we stand on the shoulders of a titan. Rowling singlehandedly held the line against young male illiteracy for two decades. There is an entire generation of adults who can trace their love of books back to her. That wasn't an accident, and it wasn't a fluke. Harry Potter is fantastic, and so is its author.
Harry breaking down in Molly Weasleyโ€™s arms is one of the most heartbreaking moments in the entire series. He was only 14. He had watched Cedric die, seen Voldemort return, and witnessed his parents appear from a wand that was supposed to kill him. Yet he held himself together until he finally reached safety. And then Molly hugged him, and he finally broke. The most heartbreaking part? Harry wasnโ€™t just grieving. He was experiencing the comfort of a mother holding him when he needed one most. Molly didnโ€™t see the Boy Who Lived in that moment. She saw a frightened child who needed his mum.

Malfoid is becoming real, at least in plastic! Content creators like ClayKM, a Korean clay artist, made a beautiful clay figure of Malfoid, and people are dressing up Marin Kitagawa figures in miniature Malfoid costumes in the style of "figure cosplay." Now the big one is a resin figure being sold by a Hong Kong-based figure maker, orzGK, who is now accepting preorders for a 1/4 scale Malfoid figure. The full preorder price is $288 USD, and it is designed by Absurd Studios. Absurd Studios has made other high-end premium figures, usually in the large 1/4 scale, such as one for Roxy from Mushoku Tensei, Ryuugake Kisaki from Blue Archive, and many more. If you are versed in 3D printing, there are also 3D printer STL and model files available on places like Cults3D.
