Analysis of the 2026 midterms that does not include significant focus/discussion of how Israel, Iran and AIPAC played as factors is unserious & conclusions drawn from it will be flawed.

Considering the message and the messenger, we have a strong contender for the most "forever war" post of all time.
Mr. Vice-President,
Please allow me to present a different perspective.
The problem was not the Iran War. It was the cease fire.
If you start a war, you need to win it and finish it – otherwise don’t start it.
This war should have been over six months ago, with the Strait of Hormuz wide open and oil flowing. The second and third tiers of Iranian leadership should have been destroyed, and we should have supported the pro-western forces who could have taken leadership. We stood on the brink of a new, more peaceful Middle East - and then we blinked. We had a chance not only to deny Iran nuclear weapons, but to get rid of the world’s biggest supporter of terrorism.
Instead, we had a cease fire, which was followed by months of will we or won’t we finish the job. Every day was a different message. There still is. Is the war over? Is it about to begin? No one knows. There is confusion and inconsistency.
In June 2025, America was not involved. This was an Israel vs Iran issue.
No one forced the United States to attack Iran then, or in February of 2026. It was a decision made by President Trump. In my opinion, it was the right decision.
Once the decision was made, we should not have stopped until the regime fell. But instead, you negotiated a cease fire that didn’t last, didn’t work and left us in no man’s land, with higher prices and our troops still deployed.
Our troops could have been home, the Navy returned to its bases, a peaceful regime in place , new alliances forged, and gas prices below $3.00 a gallon.
No, Mr. Vice President. It’s not the war. It’s the so-called cease fire.

From a journalist who is close to Netanyahu
The bad news keeps piling up. What happened in America last night is a catastrophe. Take AIPAC’s worst nightmares, double them, and you still don’t get close.
The only consolation is that Abdul El-Sayed won his Senate seat by a smaller margin than expected. Will the Democrats learn that anti-Israel politics and antisemitism cost you votes? I doubt it. And a great many Jews voted for him anyway.
It’s getting worse. First the Democrats blamed Israel for America’s troubles: grocery prices, America’s slipping standing, the war with Iran.
Now, with JD Vance’s tweet and Donald Trump Jr.’s share, the Republicans are blaming Israel for the Republican Party’s troubles. Vance’s message: we stuck too close to Israel.
That is far more dangerous. Israel now faces its biggest challenge in Washington since at least the 1975 “reassessment,” when Ford and Kissinger froze arms deals to pressure Jerusalem.
There’s only one answer I know of: a national unity government. Flirting with a new election, a minority government propped up by the Arab parties, or a deal with the Haredim would be a grave mistake.

FDD President Mark Dubowitz and FDD senior advisor Richard Goldberg are coming out on opposite sides of Trump’s aid announcement. Very bizarre to see this.

AIPAC wants you to know it defends dissent & supports tolerating disagreement.
[If you note that AIPAC clearly does the OPPOSITE with respect to dissent/disagreement on Israel/Zionism & policies that harm Palestinian lives/rights, YOU MUST BE AN ANTISEMITE 🤣]
“We cannot preach inclusion while punishing dissent. We cannot promise to heal a divided country if we cannot tolerate disagreement among ourselves. And we cannot build a lasting majority by making Americans feel their concerns are unwelcome.
Loyalty to a party should never require abandoning your values or judgment.”
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
AIPAC has a long history of hiding critical replies on X.com via standard platform tools, creating a chilling effect on free speech by punishing dissent.
On this very tweet alone, there are hundreds of replies hidden by AIPAC they don't want seen.

Critical context that's being left out of this story: we're cutting off aid because Netanyahu wants to integrate the US & Israeli defense sectors. If that happens Israel could end up getting WAY more than $4B from US taxpayers. It will just be buried in the DoD budget.

By first announcing and then publishing photos and videos of Bagheri-Kani's visit to Beijing, China is making it clear that it is now involved in the last-ditch diplomatic efforts to avoid war, and by some accounts I have gathered, China also has a line open to Washington, and without China's involvement the diplomatic efforts would not have come along as far as they have.

Media: STOP the breathless reporting re: the “Jewish vote” in 2026 midterms. Framing this as about Jews, not Israel, is falling for the cynical strategy shared by antisemites & people who want to redefine the Jewish faith to mean Zionism/support for Israel/defense of genocide.

Sounds about right!
In my view, these are the most likely scenarios to happen in order of likelihood:
1 - Current negotiations do progress to the point there are direct Iran-US talks with Vance. However in the long run this fizzles out and we get a resumption of no war, no peace
2 - Fullscale war breaks out but not at the level of powerplants and infrastructure. Trump hits the nuclear sites including Koohe Kolang
3 - Negotiations progress to direct Iran-US talks. There are lots of ups and downs but the talks do end with an agreement. The war is over, but Iran-US relations are still adversarial.
4 - Fullscale war breaks out including all out infrastructure war. Iran hits back hard across the region. Extreme impacts on the global economy.

Haley Stevens’s betrayal of the Democratic Party is not just a story about one individual deciding to change sides.
This is the story of how a politician backed by $30 million in explicitly pro-Israel campaign spending lost her primary and proceeded to back the Republican chosen by those same pro-Israel mega donors for the general election.
We need to talk openly about the role of Israel in our elections.
Not doing so is to invite pro-Israel money to continue shaping the actions of candidates in both parties at the expense of their parties and constituents.

The logical endpoint of Haley Stevens' politics.
Representative Haley Stevens is a courageous leader who deserves the respect of every Michigan voter. She has conducted herself with nothing but class since the Democratic primary, a primary where a majority of voters did not vote for her party’s nominee.
She was absolutely right to call on Abdul El-Sayed to denounce the Rebellion PAC ad and she was right to call on him to apologize for espousing the same hateful ideology behind it.
Representative Stevens’ statement expressed a hope that Abdul El-Sayed “had heard the deep concerns of the Jewish Community.” It is as shameful as it is disappointing that his response to her clearly shows that he does not care about those concerns.
In her statement, the Congresswoman says, “ the Jewish and African-American communities of my district deserve to have someone show up for them, rather than fight over them.”
I agree with her and my campaign is about being there, showing up and defending these communities and all Michiganders.

US intelligence has apparently concluded that Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, an institution designed to be the central decision-making node for national security policy, is indeed the central decision-making node for national security policy.

US Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed’s campaign is asking Haley Stevens to stay away from all future campaign events in the closing days of the race.
A source tells Politico that his team wants her to stay away “as not to distract from the central issues of the campaign.”
