I’ll have a book announcement coming shortly, but first: huge gratitude to writer / editor / teachers Bruce Hunter, Yvonne Blomer and Kelli Russell Agodon, who have supported me on a journey that became a bit of a marathon. You are awesome.

Guy on the waterfront (Dallas Road) this afternoon, making non-musical sounds on accordion, says to every passer-by: “now accepting donations for lessons.” No donations. Tough way to make some coin. #yyj #streetscene #busking

Tonight, I’m thinking about Justice Murray Sinclair and of the times that I was lucky enough to hear him speak about his work with the TRC. This moment stands out for me. It’s his answer when he was asked, “Why can’t you just get over it?”

Victoria watercolor artist’s book, 300 Mason Jars, began from frustration as she tried to piece together a family history, but over time, these jars took on a deeper meaning. cheknews.ca/victoria-artists…

Halloween is off-the-charts the worst day of the year for children being hit and killed by drivers. If you can avoid driving this evening, please do. If you must, take extra care. Skip the Uber Eats delivery tonight. Let's make sure it's a safe one for the kids.

"Shark's Teeth" markings are the unsung heroes of Dutch street design, indicating which users must give way. They can be painted across a narrow or wide space, communicating complex priorities in a clear manner, without the need for dedicated traffic circles, signals, and signs.

Tonight, for no particular reason, my thoughts turn to An Unforgettable Mentor. That's what true mentors can do - give you something that you carry with you, year after year, perhaps to pass along to the next generation. #poetrypeople #Mentorship lifeasahuman.com/2011/people…

Could be wrong. Hope I'm wrong. But Dave Eby campaigning on a "stop John Rustad" platform is not, exactly, an inspiring vision. Do all politicians naturally learn to race to the bottom?? #bcpoli #BCelection2024
