The Seeding Ideas Blog was an opportunity to gather and disseminate the interdisciplinary knowledge that is being built on crops. So many perspectives have been explored, so many still to explore... I am very grateful to all the authors who accepted the @reseedproject invitation.
4 years of Seeding Ideas blog! This interdisciplinary journey allowed us to interact with amazing authors from different sciences! To conclude, PI @MDulceFreire reviews the project's challenges while "looking for words to open the black box". Here: reseed.uc.pt/index.php/2023/…

#Botany in the #IberianPeninsula owes much to the Salvador family. Their work (17th-19th cent.) resulted in a magnificent scientific cabinet & diverse contributions that nobody but @Neus_Ibanez76 (@IBB_botanic) could tell us better! In Seeding Ideas blog: reseed.uc.pt/index.php/2023/…

Beans, potatoes, maize...
The year was 1941, Estado Novo. The National Foundation for Joy at Work organised a survey on the life of rural workers. The answers from the parish of Mire de Tibães confirmed: the American seeds became essential food in the Minho region.

What happened to wheat over the centuries? Why is the bread no longer the same as that of our grandparents? The podcast "Próprio para consumo" (PT) is a gem and this week's episode has the participation of researcher Carlos Faísca! Put the headphones on: podbean.com/ep/pb-q5d3z-1458…

Spelt wheat has been cultivated in Iberia at least since the 5th century BC. What are its origins? How was spelt harvested & stored? Why & when did it become a relevant crop in northern areas? João Tereso (@CIBIO_InBIO) explains in the Seeding Ideas blog!
