Our students are having trouble registering via the QR code. It continues to say “pay for a plan to continue”. Is there a direct link? Thank you

New @ParkinsonsUK research suggests that a bacteria which boosts digestive health can slow – and even reverse – the build-up of a protein associated with Parkinson’s.

Our new #PhD student Michaela Lunn gave an oral presentation at the recent OHRI Research Day in November and took home the first place prize! Michaela studies the immune properties of PD-linked protein #LRRK2. @OttawaHospital
Meet our senior #PhD candidate Daniel El Kodsi. Daniel has been producing exciting work in the Schlossmacher lab for many years. Stay tuned for exciting #firstauthor papers from Daniel coming soon!

A word cloud from the final thesis of our Master's student, Christopher Rousso, who successfully defended his thesis in November. Chris has done exciting work on the role of alpha-synuclein in the #immunesystem both in the brain and the periphery.

Dr. Michael Schlossmacher's research aims to unravel some of the mystery around #Parkinson’s, a disease for which there is no cure, or even a way to slow the progress.
His team's latest study is a step in that direction.

David Beckham's lab has shown that alpha synuclein has antiviral properties ( ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/article… ), & Michael Schlossmacher's lab has a similar line of research (ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/article…). So this new PARKIN research is interesting from this standpoint as well

Please see our most recently published paper in #STM for exciting research connecting PD-linked protein LRRK2 with an important role in immune defences. We also identified an interesting #sexdifference.
A gene that has been linked to #Parkinsons disease controls the course of certain bacterial and viral infections in mice in a sex-specific manner. Read the new research from @uOttawa. #InfectiousDisease fcld.ly/e5q1x74
