По мне так это идеальная и живая демонстрация работы такого устройства, вполне жизненная для такой семейки в суматохе за считанные минуты (3 минуты или сколько там он длится)

Apple spends a launch budget on a commercial, and what actually travels is a two-minute podcast clip calling it weird.
Clips are the distribution now, so I built GPT-Video to pull those moments out of the full episode instead of scrubbing an hour of tape.

I think the divide over this ad boils down to aspiration vs. realism.
Apple ads typically appeal to our aspirational selves: "this isn’t me today, but I hope it is tomorrow."
With HomeView, Apple seems to be switching it up to: “wow, I feel seen.”
And the execution almost feels like a Safdie brothers' production. Frantic pacing, overlapping convos, and the exaggerated chaos of everyday family life.
Both approaches can work imo, but we’ve become so accustomed to Apple selling us the aspirational version of our lives that seeing it reflect our actual reality feels somewhat jarring.

I'm sorry to say this but I think mkbhd has changed. i don't think he even understood the target audience of the ad.

By contrast, I immediately sent it to my wife. I’ve rarely seen a more relatable ad. She replied simply “good morning :)” (you gotta watch it). We shared a nice moment because of the shared experience the ad describes.

I wonder what the split in how one views this ad matches up with having kids or not

consequently, the people who are being the loudest about not buying one mostly live alone. this is the first apple product that isn’t for everyone that is in a “reasonable” price point, so it makes sense why this happpened.

Agree, I'm still thinking about that terrible HomeView ad days later, and not in a good way.
Nancy Duarte in her book "Resonate" (one of my fave business books ever) says that the bones of a good story is:
- here's what is
- here's what could be
- come along with me
That ad didn't show HomeView improving anyone's life, it was, if anything, adding to the stress and chaos.

I thought the commercial was fine. It was trying to be realistic. Maybe too realistic - that couple is having problems.
