What a unique time
On this day in 1996, Walt Disney filmed a special television presentation at his studio in California. The filming was a 25-minute preview of his plans for the Florida Project at Disney World, and specifically the
details for EPCOT. It was co-produced with
Marty Sklar.
Walt died the following December, and the film would not debut on TV as intended, but instead was shown on February 2, 1967, to Florida officials.

When you don’t know what you’re talking about, as is clearly the case here, you should keep your mouth shut.

Staircases and Doorways captivate me, as they are gateways to other places, portals to other realms, and we’ve lost the luxury of stained glass windows on the front doors!!
I was going to share a picture of the ornate stained glass doorway where I was staying at university 20 years ago, but looking at the street view images, it looks like both the glass above the door way with the house number in gold relief cut glass and where I have marked in Red which was stained glass, has been removed.
We should be reviving this old style!
This is a forgotten character they need in Vision now
In VisionQuest, vision said that only bruce banner and tony stark could fix his injuries and that rubbed me the wrong way...📺📺📺
Dr Helen Cho was the one who created your body! Did everyone just forget about her?
I wish the mcu had given her more recognition because she deserves way more credit than she got
I think it’s good that the Vision storyline veer away from Wanda Maximoff’s
It was cute at first and fun. However, his calculating intensely within himself and the other AI’s to the point where it seems to be forcing him to become something better. I’m sure it will stay true to some sort of comic book Cannon.
The MCU has a serious identity problem with White Vision, and I don't think fans are asking the right question…
My biggest question after #VisionQuest :
What if the real purpose of this series isn’t to bring White Vision back to who he was, but to force him to become someone entirely new?
He has Vision’s body, but does that automatically make him the same person who loved Wanda and raised their children?
At what point does a copy stop being a copy and become its own person?
I would absolutely fill up my Syd Mead designed future car there! :-)
Incredibles stunt actress!!
Olivia Jackson is one of Hollywood’s most respected stunt performers, having doubled for Charlize Theron in Mad Max: Fury Road, Elizabeth Olsen in Avengers: Age of Ultron, and Karen Gillan in Guardians of the Galaxy. But on September 5, 2015, while working as Milla Jovovich’s stunt double on Resident Evil: The Final Chapter in South Africa, her life changed forever. Originally scheduled to film a fight scene, she was reassigned to a motorcycle stunt because of rain. The stunt required her to ride at 43 mph past a van-mounted camera on a crane that was supposed to lift over her head. After two successful rehearsals, the first live take turned into a catastrophe.
The camera crane failed to rise in time, and Olivia collided with it at full speed. The impact caused devastating injuries, including severe facial damage, brain swelling, multiple fractures, ruptured arteries, punctured lungs, broken ribs, permanent paralysis affecting part of her body, a severed thumb, and a permanently dislocated shoulder. She spent 17 days in a coma, and her left arm ultimately had to be amputated. According to Olivia and accounts presented in the subsequent legal proceedings, the crane operator had been instructed to delay the camera lift by one second to capture a better shot, without informing her. Her legal team argued that this change created a closing-distance difference of approximately 105 feet. Fellow stunt performers also raised serious concerns about inadequate safety briefings and protective equipment.
The aftermath was devastating. Olivia lost the career she loved and faced lifelong medical needs. She said the production’s representatives had promised to support her medical expenses, but the accident insurance reportedly provided only $33,000. She later declined an undisclosed settlement offer that required her not to sue. After pursuing legal action, a U.S. court ruled on April 1, 2020, that the stunt had been poorly planned and executed by the company operating the camera crane, and that Olivia’s driving was not responsible for the accident. She expressed her pain in heartbreaking words: “I miss my old face. I miss my old body. I miss my old life.” Despite the film grossing hundreds of millions of dollars, she said the people responsible had not provided the financial support she needed.
Tragically, Olivia’s accident was not the only serious safety incident associated with the Resident Evil franchise. Stunt performers and background actors suffered significant injuries during other productions, and stuntman Ricardo Cornelius died after an accident while filming The Final Chapter. These incidents raised disturbing questions about safety standards in the film industry and the price performers are expected to pay for entertainment. Olivia loved her work with all her heart, but a single stunt changed everything. Her story is a painful reminder that no cinematic shot is worth a human life, and no performer should have to sacrifice their future because of preventable safety failures.
I like applying Googie architecture in certain areas of theme parks where they fit. Something like a main street USA at the end of it with a gas station or a diner. Or on a particular ride attraction, depending on the character and storyline, etc..

I do love Googie architecture. I saw a lot in 1978 when I was 2, I loved my first visit to Disneyland and the domed monorail. But also the lovely American spirit back then, complimenting the futuristic googie look.
When I watch the Incredibles or think of Tomorrowland I recall googie arcetecture.
There should’ve been an establishment of a friend line
It was beautiful in 1985-86
When I was stationed at you Iwakuni and visited there
Great theory
What if Ultron was based on Tony Stark?
Rewatching Age of Ultron, I noticed something interesting. when Ultron tells Klaue, "Keep your friends rich and your enemies rich, and wait to find out which is which," Klaue immediately recognizes it as something Tony used to say
but when Klaue suggests that Ultron is one of Tony's creations, Ultron gets genuinely angry and starts insisting that he's nothing like Stark
and we know Tony has a massive ego
What if Ultron was based on Tony's personality, but with all his worst traits amplified? His arrogance, his need for control, and his belief that he knows what's best for everyone.
Fabulous!!
While in Florida recently, I stayed at an AirBnB outfitted by the great Tommy Allsmiller (@Typhoon_Tommy) who recently restored the famous Mai Kai Restaurant in Fort Lauderdale. It was a Tiki dream-come-true! On the AirBnB site, it’s Mananui House in Kissimmee, owned and managed by Tahiti Gil. A real tropical hideaway, minutes from that other tropical hideaway!
