The 2026 midterm elections didn't just determine who controls Congress for the next two years—they also determine whether the United States, 250 years after its founding, remains a democracy, @anneapplebaum says. She explores what citizens and lawmakers can do next to strengthen the institutions and values that have been threatened in the Trump era.

Remember these numbers Florida Dems We did amazing . Imagine what we COULD have done if just a few more registered Dems actually voted … like in presidential elections ..floors me why people think midterms don’t have the same gravity
The final turnout figures from Florida last night For the first time in memory, Democrats turned out a higher % of the voters than Republicans. DEM turnout for a midterm broke records Republicans for saved by a massive registration lead. Which I wrote about here #flapol mcimaps.substack.com/p/issue…

Note: I was one of the few journalists to write about this, both for @miamiherald and an analysis in my Substack. For some reason, a lot of media didn't run the story, or failed to mention the on-the-record rape allegation against a sitting president.

Donald Trump, Leon Botstein, Larry Summers, Alan Dershowitz and the rest of the Epstein Class don't want you to listen to @jkbjournalist. Let's find out why.

Last nite This is all you need to know about what’s coming your way, Floridians. The reuniting of 2 moms for Liberty witches who will destroy what’s left of Florida public schools Bridget Zeigler and her threesome loving husband (filming unsuspecting targets so they can get off ) and Erika will do what they tried to do in Sarasota We warned you Watch them trash your schools , insert religious indoctrination, put your kids in META headsets, call it “education” and reap millions in taxpayer dollars Great job, y’all

People of Florida. Y’all better hold your damn head high. We broke state legislature super majorities because we drove turnout while everyone wrote us off. We have work to do sure, but let’s celebrate the fact we won 17 seats down ballot. I’m an organizer. And I look forward to getting back to what I love and know best. Organizing THE HELL out of my state. Let’s get to work!

America said: It's time for change. Florida said: Nah, we’re good. Yet only by thin margins, despite massive money and voter-registration advantages. Meanwhile, Central Florida went dark blue, including formerly bright-red Seminole. orlandosentinel.com/2026/11/…

Florida Dems, don’t despair. We moved the Governors race 18 points to the left despite being outspent by $160 million. We moved the Senate 10 points to the left from 2024. We ended the supermajorities in the Florida House and Senate, we beat the DeSantis Dummymander PLUS flipping another seat in Congress. We have several other Congressional seats that Trump won by double digits within 1 point. We got our Cabinet races within 2 points. A few months ago, if anyone would have predicted these results in Florida they would have been told they were insane. Let’s build off of this for 2028 and let’s make Florida a state not to be ignored in the Presidential race.

Update on the DeSantis Dummymander. House Democrats have won all four of the Florida districts the extremists tried to steal by redrawing them. Signed, Sealed, and Destroyed.

Congratulations to Gov. Ken Griffin and Lt. Gov. Florida Power & Light
The results in Florida's statewide races are as much a story of money as voter registration. Florida Republicans outspent Florida Democrats more than 6-to-1. Byron Donalds alone raised and spent more than $160 million to win the governor's race.

Tonight, the American people sent a clear message — they want a politics that brings people together rather than divides them, and leaders who offer concrete solutions to the challenges they face. These results were only possible because outstanding candidates stepped forward in every region of the country — including in areas once considered long shots. They came from different backgrounds and represented a range of political perspectives, but were united by shared values, a belief in public service, and a commitment to putting the people of their districts and states first. We also owe a debt of gratitude to the thousands of election officials and volunteers from both parties who helped ensure a smooth election and carried out one of the most essential functions of our democracy. While this administration has another two years in office, our job now is to roll up our sleeves, make changes wherever we have the power to do so, prevent further damage, and lay the groundwork for the future.

Thank you, Florida. We didn’t get the result we fought for tonight. I’m not going to pretend that it doesn’t hurt. But I want y’all to hear me. What we built together is REAL. Every door you knocked, every call you made, every dollar you gave and every friend you brought to the polls proved that working people in this state are ready for something better. That movement isn’t going anywhere, and neither am I. The fight continues. Love, Angie 💗 #AngieForFlorida
