The safest way to celebrate #BonfireNight is at an organised event 🎇
But if you plan to use #fireworks at home, make sure you know how to keep everyone safe by following the #FireworkCode.

Conservatives betrayed farmers over trade deals and the botched transition to ELMS, causing huge hardship… so Labour had a great opportunity that, today, they have spectacularly missed. I’m determined that Lib Dems will be the voice that farmers and rural communities deserve.
In 2023 @Keir_Starmer looked farmers in the eye & said he knew what losing a farm meant.
Farmers believed him.
After today’s budget they don’t believe him any more.

Solar panels should be standard on new homes and all should be zero carbon - the climate and cost of living crises are for addressing now.

A new electric vehicle (EV) charger has been installed at William Street car park in #Tiverton. 🔋🚗
We now host 18 public charge points at our car parks and leisure centres, with Crediton & Cullompton next in line to receive a new rapid charger.

"Privatisation should never have happened. 35 years of complete waste. £68bn worth of debt, £78bn of dividends, money that could have been spent on our infrastructure and that wasn’t." - @timfarron
It’s time to put the public first and fix this broken system.

“The Liberal Democrats believe wholeheartedly in our costed manifesto that there should be an addition £1 billion in the agriculture budget. We recognise we can’t restore nature, tackle climate change or produce food on the cheap.” – Thank you @timfarron

Farmers should not have vital support removed simply because the previous government chose to withhold £358 million of the agriculture budget from the Farming and Countryside Programme. I asked the Defra Secretary today to confirm that he will not be cutting their funding.

We need a full industry overhaul and a stronger regulator to truly solve the sewage crisis. Liberal Democrats will push the government to go further.

“I would like us to think really hard and creatively in this place about how we can help even out our society, so that no one is raising a disabled child in a mould-filled home within sight of a millionaire’s yacht in the harbour below.”

Today we remember the 72 lives lost in the Grenfell tragedy. Survivors and families fought so long and hard for justice, and they're still waiting.
We must act now—remove dangerous cladding, hold those responsible accountable, and ensure this never happens again.

"We're in a housing crisis," said #Devon @LibDems MP, @CarolineVoaden in her maiden speech. “The solution isn't to just build. It's about land prices, what we build & where, & who buys those homes. We need more social housing."
We also need infrastructure.

My view of Westminster from last weeks Mid-Devon Advertiser.
Simply asking big developers to solve the housing crisis by making houses cheaper is like asking a gold miner to dig up more nuggets to reduce the price of gold.
It’s just not going to happen.

Fantastic to see that this funding has been secured. The relief road will make a huge difference for people living in Cullompton, making the town safer and less congested, and reducing air pollution in the town centre. middevon.gov.uk/funding-secu…

Now we demand cast-iron assurance that the Cullompton station project will go ahead! The road is one fix for Cullompton, but rail will do more to help with our climate goals and connect our communities on foot and by bike.

Whether it's dodging potholes or trying to catch a bus, rural areas like Devon face unique challenges not appreciated by all city-dwellers. When Parliament returns next week, my @LibDems colleagues and I will be making sure our communities are heard. midweekherald.co.uk/news/245…

This is a national scandal. Our prestigious Blue Flag status beaches must be protected from foul sewage pumping. It is time to save our beaches.
The new government must clamp down on this after years of Conservative government failure.

1/ Food and drink prices have risen by around a third since January 2021.
That hit poorer households harder, because necessities take up more of their spending.
But is that the end of the story? Our new paper has a detailed look. tinyurl.com/2dm64wjv
