I wasn’t happy with some aspects of the original, so made some tweaks that are much better in my opinion. I’m gonna try not to make a habit of finishing a piece and then “fixing” it cuz that’s just not productive for an artist, but I made an exception just this once.
Just in time for the end of #MagicalGirlMay This is my OC, Sylvie! She’s obviously heavily based Sylveon from pokemon, but she is supposed to be her own separate thing. I’m so excited to finally show her off in all her glory!!!

YouTube went from hiding the dislike counter, to hiding the dislike button on Shorts, to completely removing the dislike button on Shorts, and now hiding the dislike button on long form videos. I bet the next update is to get rid of the dislike button entirely 🙄
YouTube is testing hiding the Dislike button on regular videos. For some users, the button has disappeared from the usual row and been moved into the three-dot menu, while Like is still right there. So if you want to dislike a video, you now have to open another menu first. After removing public dislike counts in 2021 and the Dislike button from Shorts, this feels like another step toward making dislikes harder to use.

care to explain your conenctions to Peter Thiel and palantir and flock? Yet you want age verification to use the internet? Seems like easy government and big tech surveillance to me github.com/nzaki-dev/dialog wired.com/story/leak-exposes…
Last week two different chatbot companies were in the news. First, Character. ai filed for bankruptcy, in an effort to avoid accountability.  New reporting suggests Disney asked the company to file for bankruptcy as part of their deal to acquire the technology. They didn’t want to buy the company outright because of the legal liability. Kids were harmed. That debt does not disappear in bankruptcy court. Then eight state AGs filed coordinated lawsuits against OpenAI this week. First coordinated state action against an AI company. The allegations: deceiving parents about safety, designing products that create emotional dependency in children, and failing to protect young users from self-harm content. Nebraska’s suit is the one to watch. It’s the first enforcement action brought under a state design code law. That’s a milestone worth marking. While CharacterAI seeks to use the bankruptcy process as a get out of jail free card, OpenAI’s defense? Parental controls. We’ve heard that before. You cannot parental-control your way out of dangerous design. The burden of proof belongs on these companies. These stories show the AI chatbot industry is running the same playbook social media ran. Race to scale. Worry about safety later. We know how that story ends. theguardian.com/technology/2…

‼️BREAKING: PHP has released its fix for the two leaked flaws, which can let attackers run code on servers without logging in. "There are no complete mitigations, updating is the only safe choice," PHP says. Update to PHP 8.5.12, 8.4.27, 8.3.36 or 8.2.35 now. PHP says Apache with mod_php is most at risk, with a demonstrated exploit that fires before any application code runs. PHP 8.1 and older get no official update, though PHP has published source backports for 7.4, 8.0 and 8.1.

Ofcom is trying to force companies/organizations outside of the UK to implement ID age verification Good to see some websites are willing to fight back against mass surveillance!
Ofcom admits it may never collect 4chan’s £520,000 fine after the site responded to it with an AI-generated hamster The UK regulator says blocking 4chan in the UK could be an option

Imagine defending mass surveillance ID age verification laws by saying "companies have all of your information anyway, so give them more!" Meanwhile Terry Schilling is too afraid to actually defend his awful arguments live on stream. "Protecting the kids," yeah right
"Let's just dispel this myth: There is no privacy online." Age-verification for adult websites is common sense, and handwringing over privacy concerns is misplaced. The legislation surrounding age-verification makes data retention illegal. This means that these laws actually enhance privacy protection online. via @Schilling1776

HR 3149 - the App Store Accountability Act: Retention is explicitly permitted for compliance records and the other listed purposes, as long as it stays limited to what is strictly necessary and is properly safeguarded. *The bill does NOT prohibit retaining the data altogether, nor does it set a specific deletion timeline or absolute ban on storage.

Our age verification laws make it illegal to retain that data. I guess you probably need to go back to maturity school with after school study hour at honesty school. Just deceitful immaturity from Julie, as usual.

A quick explainer for everyone else. >half the internet runs on PHP >a big security bug dropped today >basically hackers can take over websites just by sending one special request (crazy!) >no password needed >patches are out >lots of sites are going down for emergency updates >if you have a website, tell your host to update PHP right now >if you don’t, just enjoy the random maintenance pages for now

So essentially, this Terry Schilling guy wants laws mandating ID verification to use social media... because his kids don't want to listen to him Because he can't raise his children properly, we all have to hand over our government IDs. This is laughably stupid
Snapchat, TikTok, and YouTube are stealing the joys of childhood from American kids and replacing them with anxiety, depression, and isolation at levels never before seen. We can stop this shameless profiteering, and we must.

It's amazing that APP chose this clip to post in support of ID age verification. "There's no privacy online, so the government should mandate there be no privacy online and require every user to submit identity verification to participate in the digital world. " Utter nonsense. "It's illegal to retain data" 😂🤣😂 No, it's not. Data is retained and sold all the time, every day and it is not illegal. Maybe Terry doesn't protect his digital privacy, but there are many of us who do and many of us who practice good digital hygiene. Advocating that every user (including kids) should have to provide identity data is creating a bigger honeypot for bad actors and putting everyone at greater risk. Insane.

Georgia can now make every social media user in the state verify their age before they post a single word. Parents of anyone under 16 may have to hand over their government ID or a payment card number to approve the account. The Eleventh Circuit never ruled that the law is constitutional. It ruled that NetChoice brought the wrong kind of challenge and didn’t list enough of its own members. That procedural slip is now enough to put an ID check in front of millions of adults. The law was sold as protecting kids, but in practice it ends anonymous accounts for everyone in Georgia.

#repost On X, malicious users are managing to get accounts they dislike suspended by reporting posts that contain specific strings of text; as a result, users are now urging one another to take self-protective measures. Beyond the obvious flaws of an AI-driven moderation system that functions like a tool for policing language, this abuse of the reporting mechanism cannot be left unaddressed. We must demand that @X take immediate action!

Don't be surprised if this will be used as an excuse to enforce digital ID and age verification! Blacklists will be replaced with whitelists. Those who get verified will be found on whitelists. Others will proverbially be considered "non-existent".
So literally the entire internet is on fire because of incompetence An Indian infosec certificate password was literally just the number "4" Now a lot of huge sites are having to go offline for security reasons
