I've done well over 10 product reviews at Rain in my first two months, and every single one was presented live in the Xcode Simulator 📱
Historically, design lived entirely inside design tools, disconnected from the codebase. You were working with low-level prototyping tools that just weren't built for real interaction. Something as simple as a number pad with validation, entering digits, showing an error state, could take 100+ screens just to fake the logic 🐢. The tools weren't there.
Most designers already know where they want to land, the real issue was always how many detours and hills you had to climb just to communicate that vision. AI is closing that gap, and it's slowly turning designers into builders.
Today, with AI, you're connected at the hip with production 🔗. I can create a branch off the existing build, spin up my own playground, introduce new ideas, and accelerate my workflow in ways that just weren't possible in Figma alone. Real data instead of fake data, real animations that can translate to production. A year ago I was 90% Figma. Today it's closer to 60/40 Figma and Cursor 🔀, depending on where I am in the product cycle.
Bringing ideas to life is definitely a huge plus, but one of my favorite outcomes we're seeing here at Rain is our engineering team having way more clarity on how things need to work when we hand off designs. We aren't just sharing Figma files, we're now attaching the branch with it as well.
Can't wait for what the next 6 months bring.
