Nothing in my article attacks the "character" of the people discussed. If anything my core claim is the fact that Buckley was a charming man shouldn't distract us from rebuking political positions ranging from supporting segregation to running cover for many, many dictators.

You are better when you are substantive and eschew character assassinations, Matt. We are all flawed. I wouldn't argue that because MLK was a serial philanderer, we should dismiss his arguments. But that's almost what you do in this piece. Yes, there is some substance here, but it takes a back seat to the vitriol.
