Full solidarity with @VlStarodubtsev - he has played a critical role in helping rally international support for Ukraine’s fight against Russian occupation and imperialism. This kind of street thuggery is beneath the Ukrainian nation. We demand accountability. ✊🇺🇦🫡

A small request to foreign journalists working in Ukraine: ask the Lviv City Council and the Holos party why their former council member led a group of men in attacking a 24-year-old guy who just wanted to give a lecture Without pressure, this case will be swept under the rug
My friend Vlad Starodubtsev, a Ukrainian veteran and historian, was beaten up in Lviv today by a group of far-right thugs for trying to give a history lecture. According to Social Movement, a Ukrainian democratic socialist organization, about 20 of them attacked him in broad daylight, just before the talk was supposed to start at the group's office near Lviv University. The lecture was on the history of the labor and socialist movement in Galicia. This is an attack on the freedom of speech that journalists, academics and activists depend on. It's vital that attention be drawn to this issue so that authorities take appropriate action. If you are journalist reading this, please consider covering it, and following up with authorities. The newly formed Trump-Putin Axis is the harbinger of the US' betrayal of Ukraine; there is no longer a question of it being a US imperialist pawn. We, American socialists, must demand that Ukraine receives all aid it requires for its fight for self-det against imperialism.

She’s literally addicted to publicly humiliating him, it’s crazy. She thinks she’s untouchable; clearly, he’s convinced she’s untouchable, now she wants us to think she’s untouchable.
“Things got a little hot for me this week...Anyone hiring?" NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch jokes at the Al Smith dinner, referring to Mamdani allies calling on him to fire her. Mamdani is sitting on the dais a few seats away from Tisch.

Darializa is restoring the heroic-socialism tradition that Mamdani abandoned once he took office. I will never understand why leftists give up our winning habits once we're in office. It always results in loser politics and short-circuits any attempt at deliverism.
Darializa Avila Chevalier, the Democratic nominee for NY-13, revealed that the NYPD officer who shoved her during protests over an ICE shooting in northern Manhattan was a community affairs officer, whose job is to de-escalate tensions. “There are too many police officers who are engaging in this kind of behavior,” she said. Avila Chevalier has called for NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch to resign. She said Oscar Belgal, who was shot by ICE agents, remains detained in Brooklyn, with a bullet still in his body. @hasanthehun | @DarializaforNY

Yesterday, an ICE agent opened fire in Marble Hill. They shot a member of our community in the neck while he was in his car. His five-year-old kid was in a child seat in the back of the car when ICE agents fired at least 7 rounds into it. This was in the middle of the afternoon, with children walking home from school and people heading home from work. Federal agents put every one of them in danger. When I was in Marble Hill last night I saw NYPD officers rapidly escalating violence. As I was trying to de-escalate, I was shoved to the ground by an officer. I witnessed unmarked law enforcement cars hitting protestors as NYPD officers pushed people out of its path. And instead of condemning ICE’s violence, Police Commissioner Tisch attempted to justify the shooting by reading off our neighbor’s past interactions with police. The NYPD spent more time protecting a militia that just shot someone than protecting New Yorkers. Last night, the NYPD and Commissioner Tisch violated the spirit, if not the letter, of our sanctuary city policies and fueled the Trump Administration’s attempt to demonize our communities. The NYPD’s Strategic Response Group must be disbanded as quickly as possible, and Commissioner Tisch must step down. In this district, there are mothers who are afraid to send their kids to school, workers who are afraid to show up for their shifts, and people who won’t call for help anymore because they can’t be sure who will come. That’s what it means to have a violent militia operating in your community. You don’t feel safe walking down your own street.  For decades, we’ve been told ICE can be fixed with more oversight, better training, or reform. But you can’t reform an agency whose purpose is to terrorize immigrant families. You can’t train cruelty out of a system built to enact cruelty. ICE must be abolished. This moment demands that everyone step up. Elected officials at every level need to stop hedging and say it plainly: Abolish ICE now. Our city must enforce every sanctuary protection we have and city officials must ensure this cannot happen again.

Three days before ICE fired seven rounds into a car with a 5yo inside, a federal judge found that an ICE supervisor signed a fraudulent arrest warrant. The agent's name is Brendan Cuni: the bum in the yellow vest: migrantinsider.com/p/the-ice…

No one is goning comment on how weird it is for an official department of the US government to take it's propaganda cues from Attomwaffen and it's offspring?

Re NAZA/Israeli voices discourse: What the Algerian FLN did - because they were basically serious people, focused on consequences and not pseudo-academic online identity politics - is emphasise voices of French critics of the war. It worked. Be more like the FLN, do what works.
I just fundamentally don’t believe that Palestinians need Israelis to tell their stories or the stories of the violence done to them and I really cant understand what value it really adds to the conversation.

While everyone debates the Guardian letter, here are some much more important letters, written at great risk by the very political prisoners currently being treated as mere footnotes to ideological arguments. These are the voices that actually deserve our attention. ⬇️

Here's Katie Halper agreeing with her arch-Assadist podcast co-host Aaron Maté that Assad is a hero, liberator, and a victim of propaganda.
I worked with Katie for years and never heard her defend Asaad or gas attacks or express support for Putin. Not sure what you’re talking about

Female Activists in Aleppo Call for Fairer Parliamentary Representation Aleppo, Syria: A group of female activists in Aleppo held a demonstration on Thursday calling for fair and equitable representation of women in the People’s Assembly. The protest came after the announcement of the final third of the Assembly members, who were appointed by President al-Sharaa, following the selection of the first two-thirds by electoral committees appointed by him. As a result, the final number of women in the Assembly reached 21 out of 210 seats. Of these, six women were elected through the electoral bodies, while 15 were appointed by the President as part of the final third. It is worth noting that women’s representation in the transitional government remains extremely limited, with only one woman serving in the cabinet, in addition to the 21 women in the People’s Assembly. The participants in the protest argued that this level of representation is insufficient to ensure that women’s voices and demands are effectively heard, and does not reflect the active role and contribution of women throughout the years of the revolution.
