Dude who caused the DRAM shortage is now scolding people for hoarding memory inside their own laptops instead of giving it all to him.
sam: local inference is a terrible allocation of scarce resources โ€œa lot of people want local inference, and somehow they assume that the problem is solved now because we have open-source models, we're going to be able to run them on our computers, and so we're not going to need all the stuff in the data centre but from a global allocation perspective, actually it's quite terrible to have everybody, like, have a bunch of the world's limited supply of DRAM sitting in their own computer and being used five percent of the time you want maximum utilisation in the cloud if you're trying to deal with this very supply-constrained environment somehow many people's intuition is the opposite of thatโ€

I fucking love humans. Imagine the shit weโ€™d come up with if we didnโ€™t have to please shareholders.

Always remember no matter how many times AIPAC says being pro Israel is good politics not one of their ads they spent 22 million on in Illinois mentions Israel a single time and their reputation is so toxic they had to spend that money through shell pacs and bundling.

Let me translate this for everyone else: โ€œAfter we royally fucked up in NJ-11 and got the most anti-Israel candidate (Mejia) elected by accident (which we later claimed was our plan all along, 4D chess babyyyy), in IL-09 we completely failed to boost our preferred candidate, Laura Fine. So we had to settle for someone (Biss) who we called a โ€˜dangerous detractorโ€™ for over 6 months, who we spent more money on ads attacking him than Kat. But weโ€™re gonna say that stopping Kat was the real victory, because otherwise all of these embarrassing performances are gonna start to spook our donors. Oh and we canโ€™t actually talk about Israel in our ads or operate under the name AIPAC because both are absolutely radioactive to Democratic primary voters.โ€
While disappointed that Laura Fine did not prevail, voters rejected two anti-Israel candidates in this raceโ€”Kat Abughazaleh and Bushra Amiwala. We were especially proud to help defeat Abughazaleh, who centered her campaign on attacking Israel and demonizing pro-Israel Americans.
