I was critical of what this team was going to be all summer, and obviously things change when Igor went down. But the narrative that #NYR rely on their goalie to bail them out is foolish given how they’ve played so far this season, it’s been so much better than recent years. Every team relies on goaltending, but that doesn’t mean they’re playing a style that depends on it. Are there mistakes? Of course. But through 14 games, last night and the Devils loss are basically the only games where they had no real shot in the 3rd period, maybe I’m missing one and people can correct me. It hasn’t been perfect, but most of these games have been winnable. It hasn’t been nearly as bad as everyone is making it out to be.
