My official U.S. Senate predictions heading into Election Day: Democrats flip Alaska, Kansas, Maine, North Carolina, Ohio, and Texas, and hold a 53-47 majority. Watch for tight races in Florida, Iowa, Nebraska, South Carolina, and, yes, Mississippi. – at Midvale, UT

Mayor Dustin Gettel retweeted
I was shocked (and honored) to receive a medal from Mayor Gettel at tonight’s Disaster Response Ceremony! I showed up to offer my thanks and praise to the firefighters and the rest of our community. I was shocked when the mayor started to talk about #DisasterMan! He invited me to come up, offered me a medal, shook my hand, and promoted me to #HeroMan. He had no idea that I woke up today, and for the first time in a very long time, thought to myself “things are going to start going my way today.” Thank you @MayorDustinG! And thank you Midvale community. You are heroes.

Our community is filled with so many wonderful people 🙏🏻
Feeling super grateful today. ❤️ There’s something incredibly powerful about being able to help others through a disaster, even when you could use a little help yourself. We are in this together. Watching a community come together for families who lost everything in a fire is a reminder of how much good people can do for each other, from anywhere in the world. Thank you. ❤️ #disasterman #northunionfire

I just got off the phone with Mitch McConnell. We talked for 20 minutes. He said @GovCox should extend the fireworks ban through Pioneer Day 👀 #utpol

Interesting take from @gopTODD considering his new push to pack the Utah Supreme Court. share.google/fdSxYAnJd4abSIR…
Did you notice how Biden refused to answer the question about if he will pack the court? What’s up with a POTUS candidate dodging debate questions?

As an elected official and a member of a labor union (@Afscme1004) I'm glad to see the @utahlegislature in full retreat over the hugely unpopular and anti-union #HB267. The people have spoken, and it's time to focus on affordability and quality of life issues rather than endlessly battling labor unions and their members in every corner of the state ... #utpol
Statement on the Repeal of HB267: “HB267 was built on a simple principle: every public employee deserves a voice, not just union leadership. It proposed to end exclusive, behind-closed-doors collective bargaining that shut out many workers and restored transparency and accountability to decisions like pay raises and personnel policies, decisions that should be made by elected officials accountable to the people. The bill also included widely supported reforms, such as providing professional liability insurance for teachers, ending the practice of using public monies to pay for union activities, and clarifying that union bosses who are not public employees should not be able to take advantage of the Utah Retirement System. “These ideas remain just as important today as they were when the bill passed. However, it’s clear that the debate surrounding HB267 has been overshadowed by misinformation and unnecessary division. That was never the intent. Repealing the bill now allows us to step back, lower the temperature, and create space for a clearer and more constructive conversation. It also gives us the opportunity to build on the strong elements of HB267 with greater public understanding and broader engagement.” “Moving forward, I appreciate the willingness of Protect Utah Workers to engage in good faith, and I intend to work closely with union leaders, public employees, and Utahns across the state in the coming year to determine the best path forward. My focus is on developing policies that protects public workers, supports taxpayers, and keeps Utah’s public employment practices open, responsible, and grounded in good governance.” “Utah’s strength has always come from principled leadership carried out with steadiness and respect. The legislative process is intentionally iterative, and this is an example of that in practice. We listen, we adjust, and we refine policy as circumstances and understanding evolve. That willingness to engage openly with Utahns and improve our approach has always made Utah stronger. I will continue to approach the work ahead with clarity, consistency, and a deep sense of responsibility. By staying focused on sound governance and constructive dialogue, I am confident we can build a clearer and more effective path forward and continue making Utah an amazing place to live and work." #utpol

(1/2) Campaigns can be intense, and emotions often run high — especially during contested partisan primaries. Through it all, I’ve always held deep respect for Councilmember @PinkneyAtLarge, her unwavering commitment to public service, and the passion she brings to our progressive community. Today, Natalie and I sat down over coffee for an honest and meaningful conversation about a few unresolved issues lingering since last year’s election. It was important for me to take responsibility and apologize for the things I could’ve handled better, especially after she and her team delivered such a decisive primary win last June.

(2/2) Political battles often allow egos to get in the way of progress, and public apologies are sometimes seen as a sign of weakness. But I believe accountability is a strength, and I’m grateful that Natalie graciously accepted my apology. Today felt like a meaningful step toward rebuilding not only our professional working relationship but also, eventually, our friendship. Natalie and I both care deeply about serving our community, and I can’t think of anyone more deserving of the 2025 Women's Democratic Club of Utah Woman of the Year Award. Congratulations, Councilmember Pinkney, on this well-earned recognition! #MovingForward #Respect #PublicService #CommunityUnity #UTpol

HB77, the anti-Pride flag bill, goes into effect on May 7, and Utah legislators start opening new bill files on May 8. With unanimous support from the City Council, I was thrilled to proclaim June 2025 LGBTQ+ Pride Month in Midvale City last night. There's no need to sit around and wait to see what rights the legislature takes away next. #MidvalePride #MidvaleStrong #utpol #LGBTQRightsAreHumanRights – at Midvale, UT

Although I’m deeply disappointed that @GovCox chose not to veto HB77, the so-called “anti-Pride Flag” bill, it’s important to note that the law won’t take effect until May 7, 2025. In the meantime, we’re taking action! I invite you to join me and the Midvale City Council on Tuesday, April 1st at 6:30 pm as we proudly and preemptively declare June 2025 LGBTQ+ Pride Month in Midvale. Let’s continue standing together for love, inclusion, and equality! #LoveIsLove #utpol #LGBTQRightsAreHumanRights #MayorDustin – at Midvale, UT
