Disgust of Trump Reaches New Levels in Europe A gilded statue of Donald Trump titled "Orange Plague," also known as "King of Injustice," is on display this week inside the European Parliament in Strasbourg. Danish artist Jens Galschiøt was invited to show the work by Danish MEP Per Clausen. The copper sculpture, covered in 23-karat gold leaf and standing about 2.6 meters (8.5 feet), depicts a naked Trump seated on the shoulders of a much smaller, clothed man. He holds the scales of justice in one hand and a golf club in the other, beside a golf ball shaped like the Earth. The plinth reads: "I am sitting on the back of a man. He is sinking under my burden. I will do anything to help him. Except stepping down from his back." Galschiøt says the piece was inspired by Hans Christian Andersen's "The Emperor's New Clothes," the story of a vain ruler whose subjects are too afraid to tell him he is naked. "Trump represents one of the greatest threats to the rules-based world order, democratic values, and our common effort to solve the climate crisis," he said. "We must address this issue and stand together against such destructive influence."

I suggested associate membership of the EU for the UK back in 2020. Had we pursued that pragmatic route, an agreement could have been concluded by now giving British businesses better access to our largest market and strengthening our hand in the face of US tariffs. Independent modelling suggests this closer integration with the EU could boost UK GDP by around 1.5 - 2.1%, c. £45 -£63 billion a year - precisely the growth our stagnant economy desperately needs. As Canada the EU discuss associate membership, the clear message for our politicians - reflected across all polling - is: stop turning away from our nearest partners and start pursuing the alliances that serve our national interest. I've signed a Motion calling for a pause on new AI data centres. We had a summer of record temperatures and drought. It's not right for families to face hosepipe bans while data centres spring up and put pressure on water supplies. Public need before tech profits.

I, Kevin Rowland (the son of Irish immigrants) and the main songwriter of ‘Come On Eileen,’ am disgusted to learn that Nigel Farage has used our song to make his entrance for his party conference. Myself, and all of Dexys are passionately against Farage’s politics. @ByDonkeys .

A Scottish laird threw his sheep onto a beach in 1832 and left them to starve. They are still down there, still eating, and they have since evolved so far into the job that a green field would now poison them. North Ronaldsay is the last island in Orkney before there is nothing. Three miles long, flat as a table, and windier than is strictly reasonable. The laird wanted the middle of it for cattle and crops, so out went the natives to the shore, which is a decision that reads perfectly well in an estate office and looks somewhat different when you are standing on shingle in February. To keep them there, the islanders built a drystone dyke round the entire circumference of the island. Thirteen miles, six feet high, laid by hand, no mortar, still standing. It is a Grade A listed structure, so a wall put up to inconvenience sheep now enjoys the same legal protection as Edinburgh Castle. Nobody expected the flock to make old bones. They took up kelp. There are two land mammals on this planet that live on seaweed. One is the marine iguana of the Galápagos, which has never been more than about nine feet from a film crew. The other is a small brown sheep in Orkney that nobody has heard of, working a beach in the dark. And they did not just get by. They reorganised their entire lives around the tide. They sleep through high water and rise for the ebb, which is two hundred years of tide table written into an animal with no clock and no reason to care. Winter storms tear the kelp off the seabed and dump it up the shore, so while every other flock in Britain is going backwards on hay, the beach sheep are gaining condition in January on a crop nobody planted, watered, ploughed, sprayed or paid a penny for. Seaweed carries almost no copper. So they evolved to hoover up every atom of it going, and that machinery has no off switch. Put one on ordinary pasture and it keeps taking copper on board at beach rates until the liver packs in. They are the most copper-sensitive mammals known to science, and a field of good Orkney grass is, to a North Ronaldsay, a slow poisoning with a lovely view. Which leaves the arrangement completely inside out. The wall was built to keep the sheep off the good ground. The wall is the only thing keeping them alive. About 2,500 of them, owned communally by a dozen or so islanders, descended from animals that were on that shore before the Vikings arrived and formed opinions about it. Every winter knocks a few more sections of dyke down. Every summer a handful of people put a few back up. Only one of those lines is heading the right way. The kelp industry the wall was built to replace collapsed and is gone. The laird is gone. The crops are gone. Most of the islanders are gone. The sheep he sentenced to death are out there tonight, waiting on the tide, farming the only ground in Britain that gets delivered twice a day by the sea.

🇺🇸🇺🇸🧐🤔“AND YOU STILL DARE TO OPEN YOUR MOUTH…” Sasha Legerman: This is too accurate not to share. This Australian’s response to Trump’s rant that “NATO does nothing for America” is absolutely devastating: “Mate. You run a country where 600,000 homeless people will sleep on the streets tonight. A country where 40% of adults can’t cover a $400 emergency without borrowing money. A country where insulin costs more than a car payment, and people ration it just to stay alive. A country where medical debt is the number one cause of bankruptcy. A country where women die in hospital parking lots because doctors are too afraid of abortion laws to treat miscarriages. You imprison more of your own citizens than any country on Earth. More than China. More than Russia. More than North Korea. In the land of the free, 2 million people sit in cages, and a quarter of them haven’t even been convicted of anything. They’re simply too poor to afford bail. Your life expectancy is declining. You’re the only developed nation where that’s happening. Your infant mortality rate is worse than Cuba’s. Your children practice active shooter drills between math and English classes while you sell defense stocks to your friends. Your minimum wage hasn’t changed in 15 years. Your teachers work two jobs, your veterans sleep under bridges, and you just spent a trillion dollars flattening a country that never attacked you. And now a convicted criminal — found liable for sexual abuse, defending a pedophile, sleeping with a porn star, and running the biggest dumpster-fire campaign since the Taliban — is thanking you for yet another disaster. And you call Greenland badly governed? Greenland has universal healthcare. Free education. One of the lowest incarceration rates in the world. Nobody there goes bankrupt because they got sick. Nobody dies in a waiting room because insurance refused treatment. ‘NATO wasn’t there when we needed them.’ When exactly was that, champ? September 11? Because NATO invoked Article 5 for the first and only time in history FOR YOU. Soldiers from dozens of countries deployed, fought, bled, and died in Afghanistan FOR YOU. Australia wasn’t even in NATO, and we still showed up. For twenty years. And then you left at 2 a.m. without telling anyone and left everybody else to clean up the mess. You don’t care that a great nation is being terrorized by your friend, and you haven’t shown it a single ounce of sympathy. So maybe before calling other countries badly governed, take a look at your own backyard, you aluminum siding salesman with a spray tan. The only thing badly managed in this picture is your damn mouth. And you still dare to lecture the rest of the world?”

IS THE POST OFFICE WAITING FOR BETTY BROWN TO DIE BEFORE IT PAYS UP?? Betty Brown ran the Annfield Plain Post Office in County Durham with her husband Oswall from 1985 to 2003. Good business. Nice customers. No problems. Then Horizon arrived in 2000, built by Fujitsu @fujitsu_uk, and the till started lying. First night it was £500 short. Within weeks it was £1,500 to £1,600 a week, every week. Betty and Oswall paid every shortfall out of their own pocket because the alternative was being branded a thief. They handed over more than £50,000. Betty says the real figure was closer to £100,000. That was their retirement money, poured into a hole created by software nobody at the @PostOffice bothered to question. Betty was never prosecuted. Small mercy. Instead a manager decided she was too old for the job and needed replacing with someone who understood the technology. She was pushed out in 2003. Oswall died a year later. Betty believes the stress helped kill him, and says his dying thoughts were about whether the Post Office had finally been in touch. She spent the next two decades fighting for compensation while the people who built and defended a broken system kept their salaries, their bonuses and their pensions. In 2025, aged 92, Betty finally settled her claim. In 2026 she received an OBE from King Charles at Windsor Castle. She used the moment to tell him that money does not equal justice, and asked him to pass that on to the Prime Minister. She still had not received a single penny of her settlement by the time she collected the medal. That is the British state's idea of closure. Ruin someone for over two decades then hand them a piece of metal before the cheque clears. Betty says every subpostmaster caught up in the Horizon scandal deserves the same recognition she got. She is right. None of them asked for a medal. They asked for their money and their names back. SOURCES @BBCNews @itvnews @ComputerWeekly @nickwallis @Karlfl

POST OFFICE JAILED AN INNOCENT WOMAN Imagine. You run a small @PostOffice in Hull. You show up every day, you serve your community, you do the job. Then one day a computer program called Horizon decides you owe £59,000 that never existed. A computer program with a known glitch problem. Post Office didn't check the software. It just marched Janet Skinner into court in 2007 and got her jailed for 9 months. She served 2 behind bars. She lost her house. She lost her job. She lost her name in the eyes of her own neighbours, all because nobody in a position of power fancied questioning a machine. Here's where any decent organisation would stop digging the hole ... The Post Office kept digging. A year after she walked out of prison, they hauled her back into court again, this time chasing her for "proceeds of crime." Proceeds of a crime she never committed, calculated by a system that couldn't add up in the first place. Bold strategy from the people who broke the calculator in the first place. Less than two weeks after that fresh nightmare finally ended, Janet's body gave out completely. Neurological collapse. Paralysed from the neck down. Doctors told her she'd never walk again. She spent a year in a wheelchair and two years learning to walk. She says her own immune system turned on her. Years of fighting a system that refused to admit fault, and in the end it was her own body that surrendered first. So how does this story end? With an apology? A cheque that actually matches what she lost? Of course not. In 2025, after everything, the compensation scheme handed her an offer worth around 15% of her claim. Janet called it an insult. I'd call it a joke, except nobody's laughing, least of all the people who wrote the offer letter from the comfort of a job that still exists. 9 months in prison for a bug. 2 years in a wheelchair for the stress of proving her innocence. A payout that wouldn't cover the damage to her health, let alone her life. And somewhere, the people who signed off on her prosecution are still drawing a pension. Nobody who signed off on any of this has lost a house, a job, or a night's sleep. They got promotions. She got a wheelchair and an insulting cheque. Accountability had every chance to show up here and chose not to.. SOURCES @BBCNews @itvnews and others.

Bournemouth DO NOT WANT £110m for Eli Junior Kroupi. It’s a ‘hands off’ price . They don’t want anyone to pay £110m BECAUSE THEY DON’T WANT TO SELL THEIR PLAYER. These ‘experts’ don’t have a clue how transfers work.

Michelle Mone owes £188m to the Government, in the last 9 months nothing has been done to collect it. If you owed £188, they would have fined you thousands of pounds and sent the bailiffs round. For the rich they do nothing.
