I have found the coolest wrestling fan of all time and it's this woman from a random 1980 Memphis show:

A father’s love for his daughter never ends, even when her time here does.
There are no words to describe the heartbreak of losing a child or the emptiness that lasts a lifetime. The years may pass, but the love, the memories, and the longing to have her here with us never fade.
If you are able, please consider making a donation to support us as we walk to honor Autumn this Saturday. These donations, no matter how small, help fund life-saving research, suicide prevention education, and support for families who know the unimaginable heartbreak of losing someone they love.
Autumn will always be my daughter, our heroic archer. She will always be loved and always be a part of everything I do.

I haven’t been on the indies for a year, so I don’t know if the indies are really dead or not.
The wrestlers I trust say they are not.
Whether they are dead or not, why isn’t every independent wrestler taking advantage of live social shopping to increase their income and connection with fans?
Why isn’t every independent wrestler taking advantage of the FREE advertising that is social media to help promote every show they are on? Post the poster, post the match graphic, do the cell phone promo, etc. If you don’t treat the show like it’s a big deal, then why would a fan?
I could go on and on about this.
I love independent wrestling. Don’t just not let it die…help it thrive!

Hollywood is full of people who want to make movies. There are far fewer people who actually make them. At some point, the ability to finish something becomes more valuable than the ability to talk about how great it could be. In fact, there is probably no better quality you can have as a writer or filmmaker than being someone who does what they say they’re going to do.

If you worked for a Valnet site in the past several years as an independent contractor, read this. They just settled a lawsuit against them and it could impact you.

Call me a softie, but @Timodc’s @BulwarkOnline podcast episode today with Adam Hamilton, a pastor who was just elected as the first Democratic senator from Kansas since 1932, made me cry.
Hearing him talk about how the injustices he’s witnessed in this country and his belief in loving thy neighbor inspired him to run for office genuinely moved me. He wants to bring decency and civility back to our politics at a time when we desperately need both.
He restored a little of my faith in what politicians can and should be. I’ve always believed public service should represent the best among us. People who genuinely want to make a difference and stand up for what’s right.
I know, I know. I sound cheesy. But there have been so many moments over the last few years when I’ve wanted to walk away from politics altogether. And hearing someone like him, and knowing that voters chose someone with that kind of conviction and compassion, reminds me why I haven’t.
Give the episode a listen 🤍

Question: why does the LA Times refer to Gina Hinojosa of Texas as Hispanic, but Xavier Becerra as Latino? What’s the style guide say? @latimes @GustavoArellano

Was doing a rewrite on a studio film about to go into production (I'm not credited on the movie so I won't say which one) and Amy Pascal told me to rewrite the lead character's dialogue as if Steve McQueen was playing the role (spare and direct). True stars need fewer words.

this is why I love working at @VanityFair
yesterday, I saw half our staff clustered around our fashion correspondent's desk poring over this photo. As José puts it, "The image has several discrepancies. The style and make of the Chanel Flap bag is inconsistent with others the brand has sold, and the Valentino shoes in question appear askew in proportion; their straps have several punched holes that the authentic Valentino style does not."
AI image detectors confirmed that yes, Olivia Reingold used an AI-generated image to make her point, without a drop of disclosure. Wild!!!!

AOC: A note for Gen Z. If you want to understand millennial cringe, what you all call millennial cringe, this earnestness, imagine all the seats we flipped last night. That feeling, plus, on top of it, electing the first Black president ever. And on top of that, you did it the first time you ever voted. That hits generationally. You’ve been chasing that feeling ever since.
And because you did it the first time you ever voted, you’re like, ‘Yeah, we can change the world. Why not? We did it the first time. Let’s just do it again.’

Lucas made a gorgeous 7 hour long movie for children about how entitlement and fear of loss turns good people into fascists, and did it while spearheading nearly every technical sea change in modern filmmaking of the past 30 years.
