This is the biggest lie and dumbest thing a sitting Maldivian president has ever said. He’s calling the contractor financing model the gov receiving something for free.
Muizzu: We don’t have to pay for the 5,000 housing units. So it’s FREE.
But next he says: We have to deduct their fees from future revenue.

When the developer moves into Rasmale’, the construction of an entirely new city with its full complement of services and infrastructure, the family’s commercial interests are positioned to secure a material share of the contracts that will follow.
The resources accumulated during Maumoon’s presidency have been subject to the ordinary effects of time. Liquid funds have diminished and earlier assets have depreciated, leaving the family enterprise less securely endowed than it was a generation ago.
Rasmale’ offers the means to replenish that position, generating revenues and creating durable assets sufficient to support successive generations, much as earlier arrangements once did.

I urge people not to fall for Nasheed’s distraction. He wants to distract people from #EagleHillsOut. I have concerns about the Home Schooling bill too, but it’s not the end of the world. US, UK etc they all have these options. We can fix or even reverse, if need be, when we win gov in 2 years. But with Rasmale and Eagle Hills, the fixing and reversals will be very expensive, costing us billions and billions. That’s why focus should be on Eagle Hills. Please stay focused.
