(1) It therefore greatly behoveth all Christians to have wisdom and skill, to discern between a pretended Christ, or a false Christ, and the true Christ; as it doth behove a merchant that trades for pearls, to know...
The Father chose and appointed his own Son to be Mediator from eternity, that so he might be the foundation, and bear up the whole new creation, and so have the glory. -B.K.

Evan: By the apostle Paul’s own confession, so far as any man is guilty of [a legal heart], he makes his services his saviours, and he rejects the grace of God; he makes the death of Christ of no effect, and he perverts the Lord’s intention, both in giving the law and in giving the gospel; and he keeps himself under the curse of the law, and makes himself the son of a bondwoman, a servant, yes, and a slave; and he hinders himself in the course of well-doing.
In short, he seeks an impossible thing, and so he loses all his labour.
Edward Fisher (Marrow, p. 98)

Just add another umbrella on top with the Father written on it and you are "reformed"! #DougWilson? #ReformedIFBers?
The Covenant of Grace was contingent on the Triune God to complete, not His elect. The benefits of the Covenant of Grace are complete salvation (justification, sanctification, glorification) to those who rest in their Covenant head, Jesus Christ, who ran FOR His people.

“Historic Biblical Counseling”: The personal ministry of the Word of sharing Scripture (the gospel) and soul (relationship in Christ) (1 Thessalonians 2:7-8) through speaking God’s truth in love with grace (Ephesians 4:15) to sustain, heal, reconcile, and guide saints who experience suffering and struggle against sin on their sanctification journey, as practiced by pastors through pastoral soul care and spiritual direction and as practiced by believers through one-another ministry.
