TailsOS + KeePassXC + VeraCrypt = true digital sovereignty! Let me walk you through how paranoid anons and high-threat-model users actually encrypt and protect sensitive data. 1) Buy a used ThinkPad X270 (~$150). Great Linux support, removable RAM, easy teardown. 2) Remove all radios & persistent storage: Wi-Fi/Bluetooth, WWAN/LTE, SSD, webcam/mic, battery (optional). You now have a fully air-gapped, non-persistent machine. 3/ Flash TailsOS to a USB drive from an internet‑connected machine, then boot the ThinkPad. Now you have completely air-gapped and stateless hardware + an amnesiac operating system (TailsOS) Store the KeePassXC database inside a VeraCrypt container for real defense-in-depth against software flaws and supply-chain compromise. Congratulations, you’ve built a setup designed to withstand nation-state-level capabilities, with encrypted data easily portable to microSD and suitable for secure, redundant backups.
if you really really wanted, you could could probably keep the mnemonic within tails built in KeyPassXc app encrypted behind a heavy password

Companies keep getting hacked, and AI is getting very good at finding vulnerabilities. Every database holding your data is a bigger target every day. Share less, keep your own keys, use tools that never collect it. Data that was never collected can't be leaked.

I share this same sentiment regarding the delay. That said, I prefer careful work on a solid foundation to a rushed, sloppy approach driven by external pressure, which only increases the risk of failure. Given that so many people rely on xmr today, this delay is understandable.
Monero has a bunch of cool stuff to talk about, unfortunately none of it ships FCMP++ was supposed to ship Feb ‘25. The current expected date is April ‘27 (over two years late, assuming no more delays [which is pretty charitable]). Additionally it looks like their most ambitious update ever will also ship without any formal verification (just classic security audits [which are not sufficient in today’s environment]) By the time this gets done, Zcash will have scaled, gone post quantum, addressed parts of the security budget, and will be deep into a roadmap around securing the networking layer of the protocol - all formally verified So the whole picture is that Monero is years behind an outdated roadmap and entirely lacking in the modern assurances you expect from a leading blockchain in the age of super intelligence Monero a cool trade, but there’s a reason every upgrade to Zcash reprices ZEC against XMR so aggressively

That said, taken as a whole, xmr surpasses it in every respect, whether in terms of its social aspect or its technological and historical robustness, zTrash is and will remain a prime example of a shitcoin. Xmr is and will remain the true coin respected by the dark streets.

why am i not surprised that you'd defend taxing miners to fund almost $600k/year for chicks with dicks to shill zcash to porn addicts.

The US GOV uses Tor. The Feds literally paid a spy $100k in Monero. They don't hate Monero. They don't hate Tor. They just hate that you have access to them. To hell with them all.

No political party will save us. No politician will save us. They aren’t public servants. They are parasites. The people who feed off fear, hopes, votes, helplessness and our taxes have no interest in ending the conditions that make voters comply to them. But they do have a vested interest in making their corporate donors exceedingly rich. The only force capable of changing anything is the one that never waited for permission: people who stop looking upward for deliverance and start building, defending and refusing where they stand. History does not record a single sustained improvement that arrived as a gift from those who profit by keeping the gift out of reach. It records the moments when enough people decided the waiting was finished.

Don’t be naive. Intelligence agencies in many countries are at war with the financial independence of the ordinary citizen. They infiltrate platforms, sabotage HWW companies, manipulate narratives, and fund attacks. Their goal is to control you through fear. Fuck the statists.
