When you buy a house in the suburb, you buy one house. You do not buy the entire neighborhood, town, county.
I understand people don't like change around them, but until those people pay for other peoples' mortgages and taxes, there is no reason to disallow density in suburbs.
I think most people would be okay with development on top of BART stations. I would.
What normal people don't want: towers next to their single family homes.
And that makes sense, because why would you chose a more suburban neighborhood if you wanted to live near towers?
Is it too much to ask that people who chose to live in the suburbs get to keep it that way? And is it wrong to keep towers in the places where people chose to live by towers?
Or is everyone who wants to live in a suburban neighborhood a bad person that deserves to have their chosen lifestyle destroyed?
The year is 2027.
Hormuz is closed. Food networks have collapsed, air travel halted.
Trump insist the Iranians want a deal badly. Two weeks more - tops.
Oil still at $80/bbl.
Gee, I'm no negotiation expert but if one side is eager to say "it's going to be over quickly" and early proclaim a peace deal, that side does not seem to have leverage.

Told Cursor to build me a Slack replica.
It spawned 1500 AI agents.
Around half of them immediately became product managers.
They spent the whole day pinging the other half:
"any update?"
"just checking in"
"circling back"
"friendly reminder"
By the end of the week, nobody had built anything substantial, but somehow we burned $25k in LLM tokens.
I think it may have been over-trained on corporate data.

Oil is not out of the woods. We'll get the ships stuck in the Persian Gulf out during the ceasefire, but who is sailing back in? That's what's needed to restart production.
I am Persian. I came to Canada in 2017 carrying nothing but memories and leaving my whole family behind in Iran. My parents, my sibling, every person I love most still lives there under that shadow. What I tell you now pours straight from their voices, from my closest friends, from their families, and from the hearts of millions of Iranians who filled the streets around the world on February 14th 2026 in one enormous desperate shout for freedom.
We are finished. Completely finished with the Islamic Republic. They do not speak for us. They never did. They are a heavy cruel weight forced upon our necks, not our faith, not our spirit, not our people. We hold no hate for any religion. We honor belief in every form. But for 47 endless years this regime has crushed us, tortured us, raped us, and killed us while hiding behind a twisted version of faith that only delivers pain.
We have witnessed every horror. We have carried every wound. That long suffering taught us to recognize their tricks the moment they appear. Any group that begins to mirror their lies, their violence, their control, we see the road ahead clearly because our blood paid for that knowledge.
We want this regime gone forever no matter what price we must pay. Yes even if the price means bombs falling from foreign skies. We have tried every path for 47 years. We stood with empty hands against their weapons. We faced bullets holding only rocks and fire extinguishers and the fierce love we have for one another and for a tomorrow worth living. Still they cut us down.
Our families described scenes that break the soul. They sealed the protest streets from both ends trapping people inside like prey then shot them from rooftops and surrounding buildings. Bodies dropped in piles. They hunted every doctor and every nurse brave enough to treat the wounded. They raped them. They tortured them. They murdered them without mercy. Picture that cruelty. We met machine guns with stones. We met death with open hearts and unbreakable will.
The only force left that can halt this river of innocent blood and end the strangling fear that poisons every day of life is powerful outside action. Strikes from those strong enough to shatter the regime at last. Our feelings twist with terror and sorrow at the thought of more loss. But hear this truth. We fear the silence after the bombs far more than the bombs themselves. We fear opening our eyes to find the same killers still in power still stealing breath still erasing futures.
We trust no one tied to this regime in any way. Not reformers. Not hardliners. Not a single person who ever helped it stand taller or made peace with its crimes. Every one of them leads back to the same dark cell.
The single leader our hearts still follow the only one never stained by this evil the only one the regime and all its helpers have always despised and attacked is @PahlaviReza . He stood apart from this nightmare. He never served it. His family was torn from power by the very forces that created this tyranny. Groups like the MEK helped build the regime strength to drive out our king then later complained only because they failed to seize the throne for themselves. They are no different. Some say they are worse. We turn away from them all.
From the deepest place inside us where pain and hope still burn together this is our raw plea. Foreign intervention remains the only road left to tear this regime down. And the only leader we believe can guide us safely through the storm into real freedom and light is Prince @PahlaviReza.
Thank you for listening to our voice. These are not mere sentences. They are the living truth of a people who have bled long enough. We stand for the families still trapped. We stand so no more mothers must bury their children. We stand because surrender is not in our blood.
For Iran. For freedom. For the chance to live.

Powerful new Harvard Business Review study.
"AI does not reduce work. It intensifies it. "
A 8-month field study at a US tech company with about 200 employees found that AI use did not shrink work, it intensified it, and made employees busier.
Task expansion happened because AI filled in gaps in knowledge, so people started doing work that used to belong to other roles or would have been outsourced or deferred.
That shift created extra coordination and review work for specialists, including fixing AI-assisted drafts and coaching colleagues whose work was only partly correct or complete.
Boundaries blurred because starting became as easy as writing a prompt, so work slipped into lunch, meetings, and the minutes right before stepping away.
Multitasking rose because people ran multiple AI threads at once and kept checking outputs, which increased attention switching and mental load.
Over time, this faster rhythm raised expectations for speed through what became visible and normal, even without explicit pressure from managers.

we have ceded far too much control to the algos
we replaced the nightly Walter Cronkite broadcast with “the feed”
cable TV and the Internet allowed that transition, and for a while it was good. you had real diversity of thought and content in a way which was unprecedented (hence the glorious 1990s)
but we have moved from a shared sense of reality to shared sense of un-reality. messaging now trends towards hate and division rather than unity because the algo has learned that this maximizes user seconds in the apps
they say “the feed” is tailored to you, but what they mean is it’s tailored for them and why they want you to consume
the tech and the capacity now exists for truly personalized algos, but they don’t want you to have them
the next information revolution is still waiting to happen

Then he arose on the 3rd day
Luckily, he had set himself up with passive income vending machines, so he still made money even though he wasn’t actively working during that time

DOLLAR INFLATION IS GLOBAL TAXATION
There is just a fundamental misconception about what the USA actually is.
It is the seat of a global financial empire (or was). It makes its money by printing it. For example, it printed $1.25T for just one purchase back in 2010.
Do you know many Nikes you’d have to sell to make a trillion dollars?!?
The reason the American Empire had the right to print a trillion dollars at its whim is because it was managing the global financial system for everyone. So it had the right to impose global taxation via dollar inflation. Every time it printed $1T, that was divided by the 6B+ direct and indirect dollar holders worldwide, not just the 330M Americans.
In other words: the whole world paid the US to run the empire. And got diluted down (aka taxed) every time the US printed another dollar. That’s why Milton Friedman said inflation is taxation without legislation.
Anyway — the USA could impose global taxation via dollar inflation because it was a stable jurisdiction for multinational business, due to Delaware. It issued visas for scientists and workers from all over the world. It didn’t have psychos bombing cars, shooting CEOs, or blocking roads. It advocated free trade, respected property rights, and only sanctioned rogue states.
Now all that is gone. The US is no longer a neutral arbiter of the rules-based order that it once set up for its own benefit. And so it’s going to lose that money-printing power. But before it goes, you should understand what it’s losing.
Because the money-printing business model was way, way, way more profitable than working for a living. Yes, it had long-term negative consequences, but in the short and medium-term (meaning: multiple decades) it had absolutely no peer.
Exiting the money-printing business to return to the abandoned manufacturing business is likely not even possible because of the societal instability such a sharp decline in living standards will cause.
Anyway, the people who ran American Empire could have spent this money more wisely. They could have taken far better care of their own citizens, and dropped fewer bombs on non-citizens. Then they wouldn’t be at this juncture.
But *how* it spent the trillions is distinct from the indisputable fact that the US printed trillions in the first place. So the American Empire as an entity wasn’t being ripped off by the world, especially by countries like Vietnam.
More the contrary.

A deindustrialized America simply does not produce enough to pay for what it consumes.
It prints money instead. And exchanges these pieces of paper for valuable goods.
But if the world stops using that money, the US has a real problem. So, alienating allies is not a good idea.

Canadians are done with Trump’s shit.
Instead of backing down, they’ve settled on $155B of retaliatory tariffs (on the same day they’ve asked the UK for nuclear guarantees against the US)
And here’s the critical part:
-Most Canadian imports to the US are raw materials, at preferred prices, that the US doesn’t have other sources for.
-Most US exports to Canada are finished products that Canada has other sources for, even if less preferred.
-US oil refining is 100% reliant on Canadian processing minerals.
-US fertilizer and thus US farming, is reliant on Canadian minerals and potash.
When it comes to trade, the unique relationship between Canada and the US means Canada can punch *FAR* above its weight in how its tariffs impact America.
You’d rather have $20 of generic Chinese tariffs, than $1 of targeted Canadian ones.
If Trump doesn’t back down on this, Canada can continue to tighten the screws.
And honestly the political will of Canadians united in hatred of this moment and not wanting to be pushed around, suggests that Canada’s population is far less likely to blink first, when compared to a divided, exhausted and price-gouged American population.
In wars we talk about the “defender benefit” in trade wars that holds true as well.
Having something worth fighting for and a unified hate of a common enemy is a powerful thing.
