And now for a thread no one asked for that I will abandon in a week or two, here's my personal assessment of each E.R character. I'm going to use the IMDB cast list starting with the 1st episode until I run out of steam. I may also do an assessment of their major love interests.

Yeah so maybe we need to get some help to work through that rather than presume a generic conversation is beinf directed at your personally...
My mother tried to strangle my step dad in his sleep during a mental break the last time my son stayed there over night.

I do not have a high opinion of the po po in general but that lady got the call about her kids on Wednesday but she kept her original return date of Friday and then got arrested. You don't think they talked to the kids and thought about it before arresting her?

I know, I know this is my 73rd post on this but FOR SIX DAYS WHILE YOU'RE ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE COUNTRY??
14-yr-olds can stay with their siblings. The siblings aren’t even young.

The way people are so quick to side with a frumpily dressed while woman is wild to me. Look at that lady and tell me it's perfectly reasonable to believe she had no choice but to leave her 14 year old as the primary caretaker for three younger siblings without a close adult.
Bodycam footage shows Florida deputies arresting a mother at an airport after authorities say she left her four children, ages 9, 11, 12 and 14, home alone while traveling to Las Vegas for work. Irene Miller, 50, was taken into custody Friday as she stepped off a plane. Two days earlier, one of her children had called 911 after a dumbbell fell on her 9-year-old brother's head. When deputies arrived at the family's Kissimmee home, they found the children without adult supervision and had the injured boy taken to a hospital, where he was treated and released. Miller now faces four counts of child neglect.

If they were headed to the neighbor's house at night, fine, especially if it were summer. But school is in, these kids have homework and need to be fed and in bed on time, on the bus in the morning and their adult "caretaker" looking in on them is 70mi away.

"My parents used to..." Your parents did a lot of things we didn't realize weren't great but we put kids in boosters until they are 8 now, limit screen time, and don't let them ride in the back of a pickup unsecured. Survivor bias isn't an argument.

If that lady was Black and poor and left those kids overnight to stock shelves for 8hrs at Walmart, you'd want her shot. But she's a 50 year old white mom with a job that covers travel expenses so leaving her kids unattended for a days is totally fine....

I'm sorry but I refuse to believe a grown woman of 50 with a job that involves out of state travel doesn't have the resources to provide adequate supervision for her children for 5 days. Stop talking like this is a cashier at Dollar General.
28
No. You can have sympathy for the difficult position she might have been but this lady has a corporate job with travel and the person she tasked with looking in on her children wasn't a neighbor across the yard but someone 70mi away in Tampa. This is neglect.

This story gets even more ludicrous when you read that to keep these kids “safe,” the police handed them over to their father, who is currently facing charges for domestic abuse and that’s why he wasn’t in the picture to begin with. So she needed to work, had a contact that lasted less than a week out of state, didn’t want to take her kids out of school for that long to bring them with her, and certainly didnt want to leave them with the abusive husband. So she hired a babysitter to get her kids ready for school in the mornings and check in on them after school while she was gone (likely couldn’t afford to have the babysitter stay round the clock). And now her face is plastered everywhere as a horrible mother who needs to go to jail for child neglect. I just think that’s absurd. She’s clearly not a bad mother, she just didn’t have many other options.

Depending on circumstances, lady might just need diversion, support, and monitoring but this isn't acceptable and they are right to arrest her and investigate further.

You have lost your ever loving mind because no, you cannot leave your 14 year old to keep their younger siblings for days while you leave the state. I need your fallopian tubes to tangle themselves up while your frontal lobe develops, which I suspect might take longer than most
A 14 year old can’t babysit now? That’s ridiculous I’m sorry

Fwiw, I babysat everyone's kids when I was 14. But that was until 2am for date night. Even by latch key kid standards, not having an adult to feed these kids dinner, keep them overnight, and get them on the bus in the morning is egregious.
29
So I don't want to see 14 year old moms, that's abhorrent but we don't send 14 year olds with babies to homes without an adult there. If a legal adult isn't in the home, teen parents and their babies are sent to foster care.

in this country you can be forced to birth and raise your incest baby at age 14 but apparently you’re not old enough to watch your siblings for a few days 👍🏼

I've never needed anything to be this true in my entire life
Per Michael Andlauer on @ComingInHotSens: Brady Tkachuk said "Some things never change eh boys" as he skated by the #Sens bench after scoring A Few Moments Later: his team gave up 5 unanswered, his giveaway led to the game winner & his night ended in a temper tantrum

It's important for parents to understand your child's developmentally appropriate reaction to a thing you chose to do doesn't necessarily mean you were wrong to do it or your child is suffering. The only way for kids to learn they are fine and safe without you is like this.
Not unhealthy but we went to Mexico for a few days and left our toddler with my in laws. We face timed and called daily. When we got back my kid was terrified of us leaving him at the gym daycare because he thought we were going to be separated again.

But how you handle it after is important too. Parenting is always a balance. You can't just brush them off or dismiss them but you can't coddle and fawn over them or avoid leaving them again. Parenting is hard.

I'm sorry but it's just tacky. Call your bring nothing cousin, assign him plates and napkins, and tell him he needs to be at your house at 10. When he shows up at 11, hand him a knife, a cutting board, and a bag of carrots. In two years, he'll be taking over the dressing.
Well I’m sure the whole $25 thing is for those who don’t bring anything. Nothing is wrong wit tht lol. Is everyone okay? This not back in the day and sure not back in the day prices.

So it's fascinating to go from people yelling about who is and isn't pro Black only to find out how many of you have removed yourself from Black traditions. Arguing about phenotypes but you don't see the value of spending time in your mama's kitchen...

Lolol fuck allllll the way off, Bryce. Disingenuous asshatery from an engagement farming dingdong. Here's your 0.007 per view, dipshit.
Breaking news to all the AirBnB haters: You pay for the cleaning in the price of the room at a hotel. It’s not free. And to compare billion dollar businesses that have cleaning staff at scale to a mom and pop operator is ridiculous.
20
Fact is we ARE literally losing recipes. And a lot of people just want to bring what they want, nothing at all, or venmo some money instead of getting in that kitchen, spending time with your elders, soaking in the culture, the family history while making granny's sweet potatoes
And quiet as it’s kept. A lot of millennials cannot cook southern dishes worthy enough for a real holiday spread. You can’t bring Jamaican jerk pasta to Thanksgiving.

If you're just looking at how much it costs and jumping straight to sending invoices instead of finding ways to work with the people you love to find a way to work it out communally, then just go to fucking Cracker Barrel.

But honestly, this is the natural progression of an increasingly individualistic society. We've lost the plot when it comes to weddings, baby showers, Christmas, birthdays. It was inevitable that Thanksgiving would be next. And then you whine about the lack of community....
