I have a very good relationship with Giorgia Meloni, and I respect her greatly. I am grateful to the people of Italy and everyone who supports Ukraine. But our gratitude is not just words. We are already sharing our experience. They receive feedback from us on which Italian-made and European-made weapons work and which do not, and what we have improved technologically. We share all of this with Italian manufacturers.
We have established joint production facilities in Italy and Ukraine – these are Ukrainian-Italian companies. We have a very good relationship with Leonardo. We are grateful to them. And they receive a lot from us. I am very glad that we support each other in this way and that the Italians’ level of technological expertise is increasing. Italians work at the enterprises and factories opening in Italy. I think this is also very important. It means not only jobs but also assistance for Ukraine and Italy.

Starshield systems are owned and controlled by the US government. Any limits on speed or usage are decided by the US military and ultimately POTUS.
Starlink is a commercial service owned and controlled by SpaceX. Usage of Starlink is limited to civilian or defensive activities and cannot be used for offensive military action, as doing so would be inappropriate for a commercial company.

The World Steel Association (worldsteel) has released its latest Short Range Outlook (#SRO), shedding light on the trajectory of global steel demand for 2026 and 2027. After a prolonged period of structural adjustment, the global steel market is showing critical signs of bottoming out and transitioning toward recovery.
Here are the #keyhighlights shaping the #industry landscape:
🔹 Modest Growth in 2026, Acceleration in 2027: Global steel demand is entering a steady path with modest growth this year, paving the way for a more pronounced acceleration in 2027.
🔹 Divergent Regional Dynamics: While demand contractions in major markets like China are beginning to slow down, key emerging economies—particularly India—continue to demonstrate robust growth.
🔹 Advanced Economies Rebound: Following a prolonged period of decline, major developed regions are anticipated to return to positive growth patterns as macroeconomic conditions stabilize.
🔹 Risks & Resilience: Geopolitical tensions and regional uncertainties (such as ongoing challenges in the Middle East) remain critical stress tests, underscoring the need for continued energy resilience and adaptability across supply chains.

Producing one tonne of steel via the conventional blast furnace route generates approximately 1.8 tonnes of CO2 - meaning the steel industry alone accounts for around 8% of global CO2 emissions, nearly identical to the cement industry.
Both are among the hardest sectors to decarbonise because the CO2 is partially inherent to the chemistry, not just the energy source.

NEW: Ukraine's steel industry is effectively dead after Russian ballistic missile strikes knocked out all three remaining large steelworks (Zaporizhstal, Kametstal, ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih) since August.

As of today, Ukraine no longer has a steel industry.
The plants produced ~90% of remaining output, employed 15,000+, and had already shrunk from 21Mt pre-war to 7.4Mt in 2025.
August output crashed 57% year-on-year; September will be worse.
The sector once contributed 7% of GDP and 15% of exports — now approaching zero.
EU quota cuts, port closures, and loss of coking coal had already crippled the industry before the strikes.
