THE RETIRED LAWYER WHO DID PARLIAMENT'S JOB AND WON A JOURNALISM AWARD FOR IT Dan Neidle (@DanNeidle) retired at 49 from Clifford Chance, one of the world's most powerful law firms, where he spent nearly 25 years as head of tax. Most people in that position go quiet and enjoy the garden. Neidle started a non-profit think tank and spent his retirement doing what journalists, regulators, and parliament couldn't be bothered to do. In July 2022, he published detailed analysis showing that Chancellor Nadhim Zahawi (@nadhimzahawi) had used an offshore structure to avoid approximately £3.7 million in capital gains tax on his YouGov stake. Then he showed Zahawi had lied about it. Zahawi's lawyers at Osborne Clarke sent him threatening letters marked "confidential" and "not for publication," demanding he retract the allegations within 24 hours or face defamation action. They told him it would be "improper" and a "serious matter" to publish the letters. Neidle published the letters. He also published more detailed analysis. Then he referred the lawyers to the Solicitors Regulation Authority. @TheSun then revealed Zahawi had secretly settled with HMRC for the exact amount Neidle estimated, plus a 30% penalty. Total: nearly £5 million. Rishi Sunak sacked Zahawi in January 2023 after an investigation found he had breached the Ministerial Code by failing to disclose he was being investigated by HMRC while serving as Chancellor. Neidle won Investigation of the Year at the British Journalism Awards 2023. He is not a journalist. The SRA referred Osborne Clarke partner Ashley Hurst to the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal, marking the first time a solicitor had been referred to the SDT for abusive tactics in libel litigation. In December 2024, the Tribunal found Hurst guilty of misconduct and fined him £50,000. A retired tax lawyer spotted what a sitting Chancellor was hiding, refused to be silenced by his legal team, was proved right in every detail, won a journalism award, and then got the silencing lawyer sanctioned. Zahawi got a pension. Neidle got a prize. The lawyer got a fine. The public got to watch. This is what accountability looks like when institutions won't do it themselves. Midwife: "You've failed the glucose test. Gestational diabetes. You'll see the dietitian." Patient: "What did the test involve?" Midwife: "A sugary drink, then we measured your blood two hours later." Patient: "And it went too high." Midwife: "Yes." Patient: "So my body can't handle a big dose of sugar at the moment." Midwife: "That's it, essentially." Patient: "What's the dietitian going to tell me?" Midwife: "To spread your carbohydrates through the day. Three meals, three snacks, a portion of starch at each. Don't go below the minimum." Patient: "There's a minimum?" Midwife: "The baby needs glucose." Patient: "The baby's made of glucose?" Midwife: "The baby needs it for energy." Patient: "What's the baby made of?" Midwife: "...Protein. Fat, mostly, by the end." Patient: "So I've failed a test for handling sugar, and the treatment is a prescribed daily dose of the thing I failed on, six times a day, with a floor I'm not allowed to go under." Midwife: "And you'll prick your finger after each meal to check it hasn't gone too high." Patient: "What happens when it does?" Midwife: "We'd start you on insulin." Patient: "To cope with the carbohydrate." Midwife: "Yes." Patient: "That you've told me to eat." Midwife: "It's the pathway." Patient: "The pathway's a loop. If I failed a peanut test would you put me on six portions of peanuts and an EpiPen?" Midwife: "That's different." Patient: "It is. Nobody's ever told a woman with a peanut allergy that the baby needs the peanuts."

FYI: I ran the Sabatini protest letter submitted by the 30 scientists to MIT through an AI program to get the text. The letter has not been made public but it was flashed across the screen during a Boston news segment and I was able to screenshot it and refine the image enough for the AI to see it. Here’s what the letter says: November 4, 2026 As members of the Scientific Community, we are writing to MIT leadership to respectfully request that MIT reevaluate its decision to recommend the revocation of Dr. David Sabatini’s tenure and to undertake a fair and transparent review process. This request is made considering evidence presented during the civil trial that may not have been available at the time of the original decision, as well as the unanimous jury verdict returned in his favor. We suggest that limited and fair review would result in reinstatement of Dr. Sabatini’s tenure. On October 16, 2026, following a three-week civil trial, a Suffolk County Superior Court jury returned a verdict in favor of David Sabatini, rejecting the claims against him of sexual harassment and retaliation. The jury also found that he had suffered substantial economic and professional harm due to interference with his contract and willful professional interference. Sabatini was awarded $5 million [or $6 million per news reports] in damages plus interest. The trial presented much previously unknown evidence, including communications between MIT and the Whitehead Institute leadership structure, the revocation of Dr. Sabatini’s tenure, and the fundamental problems and impropriety with particular attention to whether he was afforded due process. These concerns cannot and should not be dismissed or minimized on the basis of the process. The process is a principle of fairness that must hold in every case, whatever the nature of the allegations. For a long time, many of us have felt that the MIT proceedings that led to his loss of tenure carried a level of unfairness that did not meet the basic standards all institutions should afford their faculty. The cost of this decision has been real and felt across our community. The integrity of the process must be the very foundation of institutional credibility, accountability, and justice. Those who do not know David Sabatini may not realize… [the image cuts off here]

I encourage you to carry forward the mission of evangelization with enthusiasm. Be bridges, so that many may encounter Jesus. Be a fraternal community that comes together and shares life, projects, dreams and hopes, especially with those most in need. Be a community of prayer that maintains an ongoing dialogue with the Lord as a friend speaks to a friend (Jn 15:15). Christ is counting on all of you! Christ is counting on you! #ApostolicJourney #Uruguay vatican.va/content/leo-xiv/e…

This is the human face of this war: elderly, impoverished pensioners receiving flags instead of the children they spent their entire lives raising. Yesterday, I spoke with mainstream media journalists in Berlin, and the experience left me deeply shaken. I already knew they would rely on stereotypes and look for ways to blame me — their questions seemed designed to do exactly that from the outset. They were biased, framed to distort and misrepresent the reality. One journalist told me that forced mobilization was justified in wartime, showing a complete lack of understanding of what forced mobilization has become in Ukraine. Another questioned me about a quote from my book while admitting she had never read it and did not understand its meaning. What hurts me most is not what they will write about me. It is that people who call themselves journalists seem completely unaware of the human tragedies this war has brought into the lives of Ukrainians. They have learned to shuffle words around, but seem to have lost all empathy for human suffering. The most frightening thing is when journalism becomes detached from real people, turns a blind eye to their pain and suffering, and, in doing so, helps justify the continuation of the war.

Bob Dylan is very relevant still. And has lots of children and grandchildren. He doesn't represent abortion and family destruction.

@DailyMail published a piece that @ScienceMagazine should try to formalize. Now that we can see the real story from the disclosed Text/Sext messages, @DMSabatini looks like a real victim. More profoundly than Johnny Depp. MIT should take notice.
