Learning about seismic waves! They had to build a skyscraper using straws, while incorporating various techniques, such as shock absorbers & tapered geometry, to see if it could withstand the shaker table.

We built paper Rockets for our performance event over Newton's Laws. As students launched their rockets (using an angle they chose), teammates helped record the time & measured the distance, so they could calculate the speed of their rockets.

After learning about Newton's First Law, we test/observe it through some hands-on activities.

Introduction into Newton's Laws activities...

Parachute Engineering Design Student's learned that surface area was an important part of how they designed their parachutes. This groups had the longest drop time of all classes. Good designing, Team!

Did a walk-about last week looking at data & discussing with our tablemates which primary Crosscutting Concept it would fall under.

Back to school! Completed a science activity to get them back into the swing of things. They made a collage of something science or engineering. They had to cut the shape out, then fill it in with pictures & adjectives that they could connect back to SorE.

Building vaults for our 'diamonds' using refraction, reflection, & transmission.

Flight & Space: they learned about airfoils & how they affect lift & drag on a plane. Then they chose a style of airfoil to build & put them on their fuselage. They launched them with a straw, took measurements & recorded the data, then made adjustments for the next trial. #STEM

End of the semester & last day with this group! They were challenged with some Brain Game activities.
