A $5 Friday Rescue Tail Mom never plans on it happening. We get full, we can’t pull more pups until we fundraise and find adopters. Then she’s sent a post. Three sad, scruffy mixed puppies to be killed the next day at BARC one of the highest kill shelters in the country. She knows these puppies aren’t going to be chosen for rescue. This shelter kills on deadline. Even puppies. There will be no extensions. They only hold 24 hours from tag for pick up Mom said no she just doesn’t have capacity. To take 3 more. To find a cross country transport in one day that we can afford. To vet 3 more. We literally have 3 foster’s total, none available. We are sorry but we can’t. Then she tries to sleep. Sees their little faces. Starts thinking she will be responsible for their death IF she could somehow save them and didn’t. It’s a weird sort of messed up mind game. So she wakes up with 5 hours to find a reputable transport that can pick up within 24 hours. It takes 3 hours. But then the transport she finds needs to pick up within 2 hours because of their schedule. Then the shelter doesn’t respond to mom’s email to tag the puppies. Mom calls 3 times, no answer. She emails again. One hour before euth deadline and about 20 minutes before she loses the transport she gets through and saves the puppies. It took all morning. It wasn’t cheap. But how much are 3 little lives worth? They recently arrived at our vet. They had just a few pledges. Only one actually paid. They need vet care, one has broken toes.
