Carrick looks done. But if the manager pays for this and the people who hired him and changed the system around him don’t, nothing changes. Owners meeting today. Phil and I asked who else should face consequences. Who’s on your list?

The cost of their debt alone is more than the savings from the job cuts. I cannot believe anyone actually wrote this with a straight face. Not to mention, the Glazers oversaw the job cuts, they are legally responsible for them as they're outside the scope of football.
🚨 NEW: Sources say that the handling of Manchester United’s job cuts by Sir Jim Ratcliffe did NOT sit well with the Glazers, particularly Joel and Avram. One source says that Ratcliffe’s implementation of the program jarred with Joel’s “sense of decency and old-fashioned values”. #MUFC [@MarkOgden_]

This is also going massively over the top in terms of the discussing their quality. There are 0 United players playing well right now. Zero. Lammens was signing of the season, Bruno broke the assist record. Cunha won us probably 15 points with his key goals. If this incredibly poor, first 12 games of the season was your only impression of them, you wouldn’t be giving them a fair judgement at all. I know asking for somewhat balanced, nuanced takes on here is futile. But believe it or not, there’s enough to criticize with the owners and directors without being ridiculous and claiming the squad is relegation level.
There’s plenty of blame to be shared with players too, for their performance. A few do very well to fool coaches. I think I mentioned around Spurs that I was once again hearing about certain unprofessional behaviors creeping back in, Neville called that out tonight.

🚨 Just now on @BBCMOTD “BBC Sport understands tonight that the owners of the club are in discussion about Carrick’s future” Disgraceful, Glazers & Ratcliffe formalising sacking Carrick tonight. They should be formalising putting the club up for sale, absolutely shameless! 🚮

There are personal, professional, and lifestyle standards that all seemingly left again with the last coach. Why these don’t exist as club rules I have absolutely no clue.

If we went with Carrick in part because managers were at the World Cup why would we then hire a manager who wasn’t at the World Cup…

The Director of Football (at least) has to be responsible when the Football is failing. That's the job.

Many opinions being shared as we speak.
What happens next on the manager will tell us a lot about the balance of power at Old Trafford. It feels crazy to think we could go on with no change to who holds the most influence after this, cannot be overstated, unmitigated disaster.

United 0-3 Bournemouth. Another disgrace. Eight without a win. A team not playing for its manager, with no ideas and no fight. Carrick has to go tonight. But it’s not just him. The people who hired him and backed him through this can’t escape it either. This is serious. 👇

It’s obvious Wilcox et al had absolutely no clue why Carrick won games last year. The foundation he inherited, like Trump getting a small loan of a few million from his parents, they let completely collapse. A disastrous hire, and more need consequences for this catastrophe.

Dropping Cunha and Bruno was not going to change anything. This is about coaching not individual players.

Thank god for the history lesson on Friday.
The difference in perspective from journalists and fans on Carricks speech is highly amusing. Still zero challenges on his system (what is it?), on his selection of players, on the lack of youth, or anything that might give us something beyond vague emotional appeals.
