Behold, this was the guilt of your sister Sodom: she and her daughters had pride, excess of food, and prosperous ease, but did not aid the poor and needy.

And @BishopBarron did a video in 2011 praising the Trappists Martys of Algeria who also said precisely the same things as Cardinal Vesco. Of all the stupid made-for-Twitter church scandals, this may be the stupidest.
Cardinal Vesco said the Church in Algeria isn't there to convert Muslims, and critics pounced. Watch EWTN's documentary: every other cleric says the same thing.
Presence and service are how the Church survives in Algeria, where proselytism is a crime.

Cardinal Vesco may not have the best approach to evangelism, but some of these criticisms aren't fair. Christian tradition excludes imprudent martyrdom.
If you can preach and believe in Christ in a way consistent with the Gospel, without sin, and avoid martyrdom, you have a duty to do that, and to preserve your life. It would be foolish and sinful to go out and preach the Gospel in an unnecessary manner, to get yourself killed, when you could preach it in other manners and remain alive to do God's will here on earth.
Cardinal Vesco wears the Cross and publicly identifies himself as a Catholic Christian, not only by his clothes, but by daily preaching the name of Christ in Algiers, a city where Christians have indeed been married for their faith, in our own lifetime. Given that reality, he has more courage in being Christian in hostile and dangerous areas, than virtually any of his critics, who sit behind keyboards, and have probably never went out on the street and talked to anyone about Jesus.

Yeah a man holding apostolic office refuses to face martyrdom … unworthy of the office.

Faith can be embodied in all cultures, because it does not identify itself with any of them in a specific one. It dwells within them, shaping them from within according to the “form” of Jesus Christ; that is, through charity, service and the filial recognition of God’s fatherhood. In this way, the Church draws from the various cultures all that is good, beautiful and true, in order to embody and transmit the message of the Gospel. #GeneralAudience

Those who preach peace through capitulation won't tell you what russian occupation means.
russians occupied Izyum for less than 6m.
After liberation, we found mass graves of 447 ppl. Most of them were civilians — 215 women, 194 men and 5 children. Many bodies had signs of violent death.
This is what people with proud 'Christian' in their bios are pushing Ukraine for.

Just so you understand the scale of betrayal: first, our "partners" didn't warn Ukraine about the incoming ballistic missiles, so the air raid alert wasn't activated before impact, robbing people of their chance to survive.
Then, Starlink was restricted to stop working at speeds above 100 mph. This renders useless, first and foremost, our interceptor drones. It doesn't limit our ability to attack inside Russia, it limits our ability to stop another apartment building or school full of civilians from being hit.
Wow, just wow.

Lots of folks in the pro-life movement browbeat and shamed people for not supporting Trump, and now we have more abortions, the generic abortion pill, a completely watered-down GOP plank on abortion, and public executions. Absolutely pathetic and very, very sad.

I don’t think people realise the significance of Ukraine producing their own ballistic missiles.
Not many countries can do this.
Only 12 nations can build them.
Only 31 nations operate them.
ruSSia wanted to “demilitarise” Ukraine.
Instead, they woke a sleeping giant.

North Korea sent between 30,000 and 50,000 soldiers to Russia. Russia let them learn about real warfare and train. Not in a digital simulator, but in real life. It wasn’t expensive for North Korea. They could have done it only here: deploy, learn, and go back. Without major losses, other than when they decided to fight us directly during the Kursk operation. So they then decided not to move into Ukrainian territory to avoid major losses. But they learn, they work with drones and drone operators, train with them. This is a big problem, even more so for security in the Pacific.

As gently as possible, if you call yourself a Christian and are upset about a sliver of people at a football game who look mostly dark skinned, I would encourage you to take that to Jesus in conversation and humility and ask Him to do His will in your heart.

I continue to be horrified by what I see from Roman Catholic and other religious influencers. And you, yes you, follow them in your tens of thousands and millions.
I’m talking about the ones you like. The ones you nod along with. The ones who make you feel righteous while teaching you to look down on someone else.
I don’t know how else to warn you except to keep repeating it: if you are not careful, you will begin emulating the religious influencer rather than Christ, all while believing yourself righteous.
Please hear me. A religious influencer is entirely capable of leading you away from Christ and toward the fires of everlasting hell.
