Whilst considering the geordie habit of saying 'eeee' at the beginning of sentences, it got me thinking about words geordies use at the end of sentences for no reason... 'wasn't me, like' 'wouldn't do that mind' 'here man' and ' i love it, me'.

Today's the feast of St Aidan of Lindisfarne, 7th Century monk, bishop and missionary. In glass by James Hogan, 1931 for Powell & Sons in Carlisle Cathedral he's welcomed by King Oswald and given the task of converting Northumbria. 1/3

St. Nicholas Street, Newcastle at left with the Side at right c1888 & that unusual semi circle area at centre which looks like a fenced off garden of sorts & later had a public toilet built within it. Doric House House was later built on top of the toilets. At left a young girl sits behind a table selling wares of some sort & a shoeless boy carrying a bucket walks off in the direction of the Side. #NewcastleUponTyne Anyone recall Rington's Tea Dances?, this advert from the Sunday Sun of 27th August 1989.
Was having a little wander around North Shields yesterday and noticed some work happening at the Maggie Bank. Been closed a few years now but was always a good venue for live music. Hope it comes back similar, what with the big music and culture wave happening in North Shields.

Latt-ay for me.
Lar-tay sounds a bit posh. They definitely say that in Waitrose on Osborne Rd.
Age could play a part. I’ve noticed kids with American accents who watch a lot of online videos. Remote working with ppl from outside the area as well, lots now ditching dinner time.
The old Newcastle heritage pub crawl. There’s some heavy lifting going on with the term heritage I think, some aren’t open anymore either.
What would you add or remove from this list in 2026? Whats your go to pub crawl in town?
