Almost 4 months later, Tesla still hasn’t sent v14 Lite to thousands of HW3 owners in New Zealand & Australia! leaving us waiting with no explanation for the delay. @Tesla @teslasi @TeslaAUNZ @elonmusk @aelluswamy @yunta_tsai
FSD v14 Lite is now rolling out to AI3 early-access customers. Based on the feedback, will rollout to more customers over the next few weeks.
This build distills the driving behavior from AI4’s v14 series into both the camera and compute config of AI3. It includes destination options and speed profiles on city roads, but more importantly significantly improved safety.
We hope you’ll enjoy it, once the build ships wide.

6 min and 42 sec of what "dodgy" FSD V12 can do in a market where it was never released.
It's important to keep in mind this is an almost nine year old car running a “magic box” that tricks it into activating the Full Self-Driving software (v12.6.4) - a version that has only ever been released to left hand drive markets. Compared to a HW4 car, this Model X has lower resolution external and no cabin cameras.
People paid $10–11k for "FSD Capability" more than seven years ago and still have nothing official to show for it. Instead, they’re left hunting down potentially dangerous unofficial mods just to get their FSD “fix” to try and justify them not wasting their money on what is essentially vapourware.
Stop mucking us around @TeslaAUNZ and be honest to your long suffering customers, tell us exactly what is happening with FSD for all HW3 cars

3. Inside the Cabin
The Cybercab has two seats and is NOT equipped with a steering wheel or acceleration/brake pedals. The cabin is dominated by a large landscape touchscreen, and there is no glovebox.

Tesla owes me €6.800.
And if you're a HW3 + FSD owner, they owe you too.
2019. One of the first Model 3 owners in the Netherlands. Paid for Full Self-Driving.
The promise: same hardware, software updates will unlock full autonomy. Just wait.
I waited 7 years. SEVEN years!
Last week the RDW finally approved FSD here. And for HW3 owners?
Nothing. Radio silence. ~4 million cars worldwide.
So I stopped waiting and built hw3claim.nl to bundle Dutch HW3 owners for a collective claim.
36 sign-ups in 24 hours. No ads. Sign up if you're a Dutch HW3 + FDS owner too.
€6.800 buys a lot of patience. Mine ran out.

An Open Letter to @elonmusk, Tesla and the board of directors: You’ve Shown Little Regard for Long-Time Owners as the FSD transfer window in Australia just slammed shut.
A lot of us bought Full Self-Driving outright more than six years ago. Especially legacy Model S and Model X owners. We paid the big premium because we believed in Elon’s vision of real autonomy. We took the risk early and supported the company when it mattered most.
Now that window is over. No extension. It’s April 1st and the transfer option is gone. That feels like a final kick in the pants with a pointy shoe to the people who backed the autonomy dream from early on.
On top of that, here in Australia HW4 cars have already been running FSD Supervised for about six months. Meanwhile HW3 owners — many of whom also bought FSD outright years ago — still have no firm date when we’ll get it. It’s hard not to feel like our loyalty and early purchases count for very little.
I’m asking Tesla to do two things:
* Give a permanent, open transfer option for everyone who bought FSD outright, for HW3 cars. No more artificial deadlines or carrot dangling time-limited incentives.
* Release a clear timeline for when FSD Supervised will actually work on HW3 vehicles in Australia.
These steps would show some real respect for the owners who paid upfront and waited the longest. Right now it feels like Tesla has moved on and left the early believers behind. I'm hoping leadership sees this and acts. The community is watching.

Elon,
could you and @tesla please consider that HW3 owners have some privilege of transfer or similar rather than this sharp cut-off?
They surely have been patient and deserve something, right?

This latest Tesla Australia statement about FSD (Supervised) v13 is insulting. There’s no other word for it. HW4 owners get the rollout, while HW3 customers — the people who believed in Tesla early, who paid thousands for “Full Self-Driving Capability” years ago — are fed a few vague lines about “not giving up” on us. That’s not an update. It’s a brush-off.
“We’ll come back to you later.” “Probably in Q2 next year.” “A v14 Lite version.” Do you hear how absurd that sounds? We didn’t pay for a Lite version. We paid for Full Self-Driving — the same promise that was printed on every sales page, demo, and delivery speech. Now it’s being rewritten midstream, and Tesla expects us to nod along as if that’s acceptable.
What makes it worse is the patronising tone — the constant talk about “safety” and “rigorous testing,” as if that justifies leaving early adopters stranded with outdated hardware and no clear path forward. Safety isn’t an excuse for corporate silence. It’s a baseline expectation.
Tesla built its brand on innovation and trust. HW3 owners were part of that story — we were the test group, the believers, the unpaid beta team. Now we’re being told, effectively, that our hardware is too old to matter and that we’ll “probably” get a stripped-down version someday, maybe. That’s not good enough. Not by a mile.
If Tesla still cares about integrity, it needs to show it — with a concrete plan, clear timelines, and genuine respect for the people who funded the dream long before HW4 even existed.

.@TeslaAUNZ just emailed HW3 owners about FSD.
Here’s the truth in plain English:
1/ FSD v13 is rolling out **NOW** in AU/NZ…
…but **only for HW4** (2023+ cars).
HW3? Still nothing.
2/ CFO Vaibhav Taneja:
> “We’ve not given up on HW3… but we’ll solve autonomy **first**, then take care of these customers.”
Translation: **HW3 is on the back burner.**
3/ VP Ashok Elluswamy:
> “v14 Lite for HW3 — **probably Q2 2026.**”
That’s **1.5+ years away**, and “Lite” = **downgraded, slower, weaker.**
4/ HW3 will **never match HW4**.
Less compute, no 4K cameras.
Even v14 Lite = **Level 2+, always supervised.**
5/ No upgrade path.
No refund.
No apology.
Just “we’ll take care of you” — **vague PR.**
6/ Bottom line:
- **HW4 owners**: Winning
- **HW3 early adopters**: Delayed, downgraded, deprioritized
Tesla’s all-in on the future.
You paid $10K+ to test the past.

Wonderful, meanwhile my nearly 8 year old Model X with 6 year old purchased FSD at $10,100 still has nothing, zip (in Australia)….not even a whisper from Tesla as to when we may get FSD-S (if at all), and now people are able to buy at half the price I paid…wonderfully fucking shit way to treat your customers Tesla!

There is no Tesla without HW3 people we bought a Tesla when it was unpopular to buy a Tesla and that is why it is successful today. HW3 people should be rewarded like given the VIP treatment #tsla

Now would be a great time for @TeslaAUNZ to reach out to us to restore a line of communication. All that we want is to be communicated to. Set a realistic timeline. That is all.
After buying 5 FSD packages and with zero things to show for how can we as a family be expected to buy one more new Tesla ?
We are not Tesla haters.
We love the car and the brand. But this is quite simply frustrating.
And I have become the butt of all jokes in every family and friends get together!
It was funny in 2018, 2019, 2020 even in 2021. Heck even in 2022 I was still chuckle worthy.
But now in 2025, with HW4 being priority with ZERO communication to HW3 owners it has stopped being funny.

I am submitting this open letter via echo.tesla.com to address concerns about the limited transfer windows for Full Self-Driving (FSD) Supervised and the lack of a clear timeline for its deployment on Hardware 3 (HW3) vehicles in Australia.
The limited FSD Supervised transfer windows unfairly restrict owners who paid a premium for this feature, diminishing its value and flexibility. Additionally, the absence of a published timeline for FSD Supervised activation on HW3 vehicles is causing frustration among Australian customers, especially since HW4 vehicles in Australia already have access to this feature. This delay feels particularly unfair to HW3 owners who purchased FSD expecting timely access.
I respectfully urge Tesla to:
Publish a clear and detailed timeline for FSD Supervised deployment on HW3 vehicles in Australia.
Offer a permanent, open transfer option for all HW3 owners who have purchased FSD Supervised, ensuring fairness and flexibility.
These actions would demonstrate Tesla’s commitment to transparency and customer satisfaction. I hope Tesla’s leadership will address these concerns promptly and invite the community to support this call for clarity and fairness.
