When it premiered I thought it was cool Godzilla Minus One showed even in my little town but on reflection it's clear that's because of the movie's adherence to american spectacle filmmaking conventions and similar political (both textual and material) ideation

I feel the issue lies in Yamazaki opening a conversation he can't close effectively.
I was talking with my wife last night, and she felt these films don't have any revisionist/nationalist intentions, just they happen to be from a system that hesitates to take accountability.

My fault for looking at the For You tab but man Godzilla Twitter is dumb. Post after post saying Minus One isn't fascist nonsense because it's focused on civilians not military, which I guess makes the Death Wish movies also revolutionary messages.
And whenever someone has a legit criticism of the 'Crying Pilot' Godzilla Film, a pile-on happens and it's absolutely awful. Why can't we be normal about this?
This director is literally Japan's Robert Zemeckis. Do you know that that means?

Could not agree more with this assessment because sometimes, it's the same in the U.S.
The hope is that Japan's Gen Z will pushback against this, but will they be as motivated as Gen Z across the rest of the world like Kenya, Spain, France, Indonesia, India, Brazil & Serbia?

昔から、日本のテレビでは外国人タレントに「日本はどうですか？」「日本人の女の子はどうですか？」と聞いていました。
相手が礼儀として褒めれば、それが世界の日本に対する評価であるかのように喜ぶ。
外国人が一人、日本を褒めただけで「やっぱり日本は素晴らしい」と大騒ぎする。
世界から尊敬されていると言いながら、その証拠を外国人のお世辞に求める。
この感覚こそ、私には不思議でなりません。
世界を知らないというより、世界を自分たちに都合よくしか見ようとしない。
本当に、いつまでこんな自画自賛的な島国根性なんでしょうね。
