TIN Certificate Not Required to Renew Vehicle Revenue Licences or Open Bank Accounts!
People can renew vehicle revenue licences and open new bank accounts without submitting a TIN certificate by providing their basic personal information, authorities have clarified.
Individuals who do not have a TIN number can provide their National Identity Card number, name, address, telephone number and email address to obtain these services. The absence of a TIN certificate should not result in delays or rejection of these services.
From November 1, a TIN certificate is required for eight specified transactions, including obtaining credit cards, approving building plans, registering motor vehicles, registering land, registering businesses and transferring company shares.
Authorities have also clarified that being over 18 does not automatically mean a person is liable to pay income tax. Tax liability applies to individuals whose annual income exceeds Rs. 1.8 million, subject to applicable tax laws.
